Kindergarten Curriculum

• Language Arts -We are implementing Reader's Workshop this school year which will incorporate shared reading, read aloud, and word study in addition to workshop time. Students will spend a lot of time interacting with reading and having his/her nose in a book!
• Mathematics- We use the Envision Math Program. Students will bring home a math mat everyday. Please review these concepts with your child and do not hesitate to ask for more resources.
• Social Studies- Will be taught during content time and concepts will be incorporated throughout the school day. Topics to be covered will include: communities and neighborhoods, health and wellness, families, and biographies.
• Science-Our class will be using a hands on science kit in the 3rd and 4th quarter to learn about weather and then plants and animals. Science will also be tied into themes and workstations.
• ABL-Action Based Learning. Students will go to the gym each morning to participate in ABL. The students' learning is enhanced through movement and the targeted focus is learning/practicing sight words.
