Odyssey of the Mind

West Shore Jr/Sr High School

Odyssey of the Mind is a wonderful non-profit, international, creative problem solving program that fosters the development of creative thinking and problem solving skills among young people. Participants compete in a variety of areas – from building mechanical devices to giving their own interpretation of many of the great classics of the world.

Brevard County has been formally involved in this program since the 1989-1990 school year and has had many successful teams of students competing at not only the Regional level, but at the State and International levels.

This year, teams will first compete in the Regional Competition on February 22nd at Viera High School. The top placing teams of this competition will advance to the State Competition, April 4th, location to be decided. The state winners are invited to the World Finals, May 27th-30th at Iowa State University.

Odyssey of the Mind is an all-volunteer program of coaches, students and parents. Volunteers judge at all the competitions and do all the organizing at the regional, county and state level.
