Jetty Park Beach Clean-Up
All students in our program had the opportunity to help clean-up our local Maritime Community by picking up trash and debris at Jetty Park in Cape Canaveral! Students had lots of fun while helping the community. A huge thanks to Keep Brevard Beautiful for supplying our equipment and helping us plan the clean-up.

Senior Job Shadowing @ Canaveral Port Authority (2.2.2018)
Our Senior students spent the day at Port Canaveral shadowing a wide-variety of departments!
Students got once-in-a-lifetime experiences like touring the engine room of a RORO & meeting the captain, inspecting vehicles at the gate, learning from the Harbormaster's office, identifying safety/security plans, getting to understand the wide-varieties of engineering at Port Canaveral and MORE!
This is the kind of hands-on-learning that you cannot get in ANY other program in Brevard County!

Field Trip to Sea World Orlando!
Our program students had SO much fun learning about conservation in the Maritime Industry at Sea World, Orlando. We spent the day learning that EACH of us has the power to make awesome change in our environment by recycling, taking care of endangered animals and being cautious/careful with our trash. What a FUN experience!!
Senior Job Shadowing @ Port Canaveral Part 2
Our senior students spent the day shadowing Maritime Industry Professionals in careers that they are interested in. Students got the chance to visit the Canaveral Pilots Association, CH2MHill-Jacobs Engineering Firm and Brevard County Sheriff's Office @ Port Canaveral. We cannot thank all those involved in this experience enough for their continued support of our program!
Field Trip to Port Canaveral
For our last whole-program Field Trip of the school year, we headed to Port Canaveral!
The Maritime 1 students got the fantastic experience to get a behind-the-scenes tour of a Cruise Terminal and the Container Terminal operated by GTUSA; Maritime 1 students also visited the Coast Guard Station for a special look at a cutter, some small boats and a Q & A session with some current Coast Guard Members.
The Maritime 2 students got to put their firefighting skills to the test at the Cape Canaveral Fire Station Maritime Training Simulator! After lunch the Maritime 2 students headed the BCSO Communications center for an inside look at the safety/security at our Port.
It was a GREAT day of learning & excitement and we cannot thank our partners enough! Big shout-out to BCSO, Port Canaveral Coast Guard Station, Rick Clark & GTUSA, Dave Sargent & Cape Canaveral Fire Station and Brian Blanchard for making this field trip possible!
Field Trip to Port Canaveral- MARITIME 1 STUDENTS!
Maritime 1 Students spent the day getting an introduction to all things MARITIME! They got an in-depth tour of Port Canaveral while on board The Canaveral One Tour Boat; then spent time touring Coast Guard Station Canaveral, interacting with a USCG Helicopter & crew, and interacting with the Station Crew.
Field Trip to Port Canaveral- MARITIME 2 & 3 STUDENTS!
Maritime 2 Students got the fantastic opportunity to tour The Royal Caribbean Ship: The Enchantment of The Seas. Students got to see the engine room, tour guest cabins & visit the officers on the bridge! Maritime 2 Students also got the chance to ride on boats from BCSO, CCVFD & The Canaveral Harbor Pilots; they also got the awesome opportunity to learn about the BCSO ROV and even try their hand at operating the vehicle.
Maritime 3 students spent time learning about the impact of Civil Engineering on The Maritime Industry through a visit to Jacobs Engineering. They also visited The Customs and Boarder Patrol Office @ Port Canaveral where they learned about protection, detection and enforcement.

Fall Field Trip to Port Canaveral
Maritime 1 Students got the opportunity to tour Port Canaveral from the water! Students had a great time learning about the Maritime Industry, everything that Port Canaveral imports and exports and about the many careers available at the Port.
Students also spent time at The U.S. Coast Guard Station Canaveral where they learned about life in The U.S. Coast Guard and what it's like to work at the station. Thanks to all who made our trip possible!
Maritime 2 Fall Field Trip to Port Canaveral
Our Maritime 2 Students had a fantastic time at Port Canaveral. They got the chance to tour and ride on a BCSO Response Boat, The Canaveral Pilots Association Pilot Boat and the Fire Boat from The Canaveral Fire Station.
Students also got the AMAZING opportunity to tour a The Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship The Navigator. Students got to see the bridge, engine room, guest rooms and more! What a fantastic experience for our students to get a behind-the-scenes look at the cruise industry.

Annual Sea World Field Trip
All of our HELM Program Students were invited to participate in our annual trip to Sea World to learn more about Marine Biology and the role it plays in the Maritime Industry. Students have been studying Coral Reefs, Environmental Protection and Marine Biology Research in class and touring Sea World Orlando gave them the opportunity to see what we've being learning in class in person. We had a GREAT trip and a LOT of fun!
Port Panel of Guest Speakers
Today we had the opportunity to hear from a variety of individuals that work at Port Canaveral through our 2nd Port Panel of the year! This time we heard from individuals who work in IT, Finance, Government Relations, Event Management, Business Management and MORE! Students also enjoyed the special opportunity to hear from two Port Interns from Massachusetts Maritime Academy. A big thanks to everyone who came out to support our panel; we are so thankful for our great relationship with Port Canaveral!
Special visit from C.O.B. Stephenson
Today our Maritime Students had the very special opportunity to hear from an R.H.S. Graduate who is now the Chief Of the Boat for the USS San Juan. Chief Stephenson talked to us about his career in the U.S. Navy, his experience on submarines and what it takes to be a submariner. We are so thankful for the opportunity to hear from Chief Stephenson and learn about such a unique and important part of the maritime industry and our nation's defense program. Thank you Chief Stephenson for taking the time to speak to our HELM Students!
Maritime 1 Winter Field Trip
Students got the fantastic opportunity to tour a few different terminals at Port Canaveral. In class we've been learning about Port Operations and types of terminals and today our students got the chance to see them up close and personal! Students also got the chance to spend time at Coast Guard Station Canaveral where they toured small boats, learned about the recruitment process and even got to utilize the BCSO ROV and scan the hull of a cutter!

Maritime 2 & 3 Winter Field Trip
Maritime 2 Students spent the day touring the BCSO Comms Center and working with the BCSO Federal K-9 Bomb Detection Team. After lunch, students got the unique opportunity to tour and experience the live fire-fighting training simulator at The Cape Canaveral Fire Station at Port Canaveral. This simulator is extremely unique and presented our students with a fantastic opportunity!
Maritime 3 Students spent the morning with a variety of departments from the Canaveral Port Authority learning about the role of safety, environmental protection and management in Port Canaveral. After lunch, students got the VERY rare opportunity to tour Cruise Terminal #3 while under construction. CT 3 is going to host the newest Carnival Cruise Ship which will be the first Cruise Ship in North American to be LNG powered.
