It is extremely important that all of our students are practicing their music regularly and coming to daily rehearsals prepared. If any families would like to display a poinsettia at the edge of the stage for our concert, you are encouraged to bring them in and take them back home with you! We had quite a few 2 years ago and it really made the stage look nice :)

Greetings Edgewood Band!
I hope everyone had a wonderful and restful summer! We are very excited to get this school year started, and begin making music together again in our band room here at Edgewood!
The band will be putting out some information over the next few weeks, but here are some important announcements before the first bell rings:
Important information will be disseminated directly from me in the following ways (normally copied and pasted in each location): emails, the official Edgewood Band website, google classroom, and the focus class webpages. Google Classroom and Focus should be populated early this week. The band website, https://sites.google.com/share.brevardschools.org/ejshbands/home, is already up and running and is a fantastic resource that keeps all past announcements for reference.
Additionally, we have a Facebook page for Edgewood Band parents: https://www.facebook.com/groups/edgewoodbandparents.
First Day of School Announcements:
Students do not need to bring their instruments on the first day of school. We will be going over procedures, starting the process of assigning band lockers and folders, etc. We will also discuss when to start bringing materials in (as well as post that information in Google Classroom), as not every class period will follow the same timeline.
*Beginning band - we will begin the process of instrument selection this week. There are many exciting factors to consider, and we will provide a lot of helpful information both in class and online. Please keep an eye on your Google Classroom (once it is up and running) as we make our selections.
New Band parents - please take a moment and fill out this registration form https://forms.gle/fNbxRdDF46zSKuEc8
Important Dates:
Here are some preliminary dates, more detailed information as well as any additions/updates to these dates will be sent out as soon as it becomes available:

Good afternoon,
We are very excited for our concert next week! All of the students have been working extremely hard over the past few weeks and working through extremely unique and difficult challenges. I am very proud of each and every one of them, and we are looking forward to sharing our music next week.
Band Concert Thursday, April 29 at 6:00 in the gym at Edgewood Jr. Sr. High School.
Call time for students will be 5:30. Please be dressed in concert attire: Wind Ensemble = black collared shirt with black slacks and black socks/shoes, Concert Band and Beginning Band = white collared shirt with black slacks and black socks/shoes. Please have instruments and all music/supplies with you and ready to go. We are excited to showcase all of our amazing band students, and ask that students stay for the duration of all the concert.
Concert student-attendance:
All of the band students will be required to have a performance grade this semester. Our concert next week will meet this requirement. However, we will have an alternate performance option for our E-learners and other students who have parent/guardian communication with Mr. Fenzl prior to Wednesday April 28th. Students opting for the alternate performance will submit video performing selections from our concert program. We will post the specifics of the selections (measure numbers, etc.) on Wednesday, April 28th.
Concert guest attendance:
While we are fortunate to have the opportunity to give a live concert, we will unfortunately be restricted to half-capacity. Due to this requirement, each student will be receiving 2 guest tickets for the April 29 concert. Senior students will receive 2 additional tickets. We will be posting a Google Form in Google Classroom and will ask each student to indicate how many tickets they anticipate needing. Please contact Mr. Fenzl if you anticipate needing more than 2 tickets, and we will see if we can accommodate the additional guests.
Concert guest precautions:
We are asking that our concert guests distance in the gym bleachers, and we are requiring all concert guests to wear masks. We will be having virtual-programs linked via posted QR codes. We will have physical copies of programs upon request.
Concert student precautions:
Performing students will continue to utilize the safety precautions we have been using daily in the band room. All students will need to wear band masks. Please note - all e-learning students who have not physically been in school yet but would like to play in the concert all have one district-provided band mask for them here at school. We received enough for every student (both in-person and e-learning) and can distribute the band masks to students that still need them the night of the concert. Brass players will need their bells covered with fabric (t-shirts work very well), as do woodwinds (smaller pieces of fabric and drawstring, etc.). Clarinets can cover their instrument with a t-shirt (put the clarinet inside the shirt with the mouthpiece coming out of the neck hole, and place the hands inside the shirtsleeves to hold the clarinet). We will have our students spaced out appropriately.
Concert Band / Wind Ensemble after school rehearsal on Friday, April 23rd:
The concert band and wind ensemble will rehearsal together from 2:30 - 3:30 on Friday, April 23rd in preparation for our concert next week.
Band Letters:
We are excited to bring back band letters! Eligible students, please see Google Classroom for requirements and applications.
Band Student Leadership:
It is that time of year - we will be selecting band student leadership for the 2021-2022 school year very soon! Please see Google Classroom for information and an application.
Please let me know if you have any questions! Thank you so much!
-Mr. Fenzl
Good morning,
The Edgewood Band has been busy preparing music, and we are excited to now be able to have some dates to share with our families, as well as other important details and information. I will be posting this information on Google Classroom, the Focus Class Webpage, as well as the Band Website (on the official Edgewood page).
SPRING CONCERT
We have information about our concert! We will be holding a Spring Concert on Thursday, April 29 here at Edgewood gymnasium. We will begin playing at 6:00 pm and should conclude on or before 8:00 pm. The band students will be utilizing the safety precautions we use every day in the band room, as well as requiring distancing and masks in the audience. We conducted an orchestra and jazz/percussion concert in the Edgewood gym using these same procedures with much success last semester. While it will only be a band event this semester, we will be running things in the same way.
E-learners will have the option of physically participating in the concert, or completing an alternate performance assignment (virtual).
Concert Attire for our performing students will be:
Wind Ensemble (4th Block): Black on black - black dress shirt with black dress slacks and black socks/shoes. This is the same attire that our advanced jazz band wears for concerts.
Concert and Beginning Band (1st and 3rd Block): White on black - white dress shirt with black dress slacks and black socks/shoes. This is the same attire that our beginning jazz band wears for their concerts.
We are planning on presenting some awards as well as senior recognitions at the concert. We will unfortunately not be having a banquet this year, so we are thankful to have an opportunity to have some recognition in front of family/friends at our concert.
We will push out more details as they are available, including the number of guests each performing student may bring, etc..
AFTER SCHOOL REHEARSALS
We will be holding some after school rehearsals the week prior to the concert.
Monday, April 19, 3:30 - 430 Wind Ensemble
Friday, April 23, 2:30 - 3:30 Concert Band and Wind Ensemble
SENIOR BANNERS
We have already begun taking the senior banner photos, and have another opportunity on Monday, April 5 after school. Students may choose to wear concert attire from last year (tux/dress) or the black on black attire for this year’s concert. The cost of the senior banners is $35 - checks made payable to Edgewood Jr Sr High School.
I am very proud of the Edgewood Band students for navigating such an unusual and challenging school year. I also appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as information has been slower to come through. We will continue to do our best in the ever-changing landscape that has been this year! The Edgewood Band is excited for our concert, and looks forward to sharing music with our families, friends and the community!
I will pass on additional information as soon as I have it - and if you have any questions please feel free to contact me, and I will do my best to get everything answered for you. Direct email is usually the best/quickest way to reach me.
Thank you!!
-Bryan Fenzl

Good morning,
We are very excited for our upcoming Winter Concert. This year, much of the concert experience will be quite different. We are doing everything we can to provide our students and community with a concert, while maintaining all of the distancing requirements and protocols necessary to hold such an event.
Please review the following information, as there are many important pieces (many of which are completely unique to this year):
Our Winter Concert is scheduled for Friday, December 4th, at 6:00 p.m. in the Edgewood Jr. Sr. High School gymnasium. Call time for the participating students will be 5:30, with students reporting in the band room here at Edgewood. The band concert is scheduled to conclude at 7:00 pm.
We will be having a rehearsal for the bands/percussion from 3:00 - 4:00 after school. At the conclusion of the rehearsal at 4:00, students may be picked up/leave campus for food and to change into concert attire before returning for their call time of 5:30.
Concert attire for all band students will be: black shirt (collar preferred, no t-shirts/hoodies/etc.) with black slacks and black socks/shoes.
This concert will feature: the Beginning Jazz Band, our Percussion Program, and our Advanced Jazz Band. Our Beginning Band, Concert Band, and Wind Ensemble will all be meeting next semester, and will not be a part of this concert.
Due to restrictions on crowd size, we will be limiting each band student to 4 spectator tickets. These tickets will be available in class prior to the concert date (very much like graduation tickets). There is no cost for the tickets, however a ticket is required for entry.
We are working very hard to have the concert live streamed for those that cannot attend, please stay tuned for more details regarding the live stream.
The band students will utilize all of the safety protocols we use every day in class: they will wear masks, have their instruments covered, and will have 6’ spacing.
Audience members will be required to wear face coverings, as well as socially distance (by family) in the bleachers.
All participants (the band students and the audience) will have their temperature checked at the door.
At the conclusion of our band program (beginning jazz, percussion, advanced jazz), all spectators are asked to vacate the gym as the orchestra will be holding their concert. The orchestra concert also requires tickets for entry (given to the orchestra students).
Each performing student will need to have the Hold Harmless Agreement (same form as athletics) signed and turned in. This will be available (and turned in) on Google Classroom.
Students electing to not participate in the concert will have an alternative performance assignment via Zoom and will not need to return the Hold Harmless Agreement.
While this will all look very different than a typical winter concert, we are excited for the opportunity to showcase our wonderful Edgewood students! Please contact Mr. Fenzl fenzl.bryan@brevardschools.org with any questions.
Thank you very much, and stay tuned for more information!

Good afternoon,
Here is a tribute to the 2019/2020 Edgewood Band program and our seniors! A huge shout out and thank you to all of those that submitted photographs for this project!
Please stay tuned for updates as they become available. In the meantime, please enjoy this tribute to our amazing students!

Good afternoon,
Edgewood Jr. Sr. High School will be open to all of its music students needing to return BPS owned instruments and uniform parts on Friday, May 22, from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Your music teachers will be there to receive items you need to return (items listed on the google form you have already filled out and indicated you need to return).
The student parking lot back by the music building will be open during this return day. Please come through using the same traffic pattern as student pick-up at the end of a normal school day. We will be practicing social distancing to the best of our ability, so please try to stay in your vehicle as much as possible while returning the items. Your music teachers miss you terribly - but we will unfortunately not be able to visit with our students and their families at this time.
Mr. Franco has set up a sign-up genius for all music students returning BPS equipment on May 22. The time slots are spaced 15 minutes apart with a max of 5 names per slot. Please do your best to adhere to your sign-up time to help facilitate our return process efficiently.

Good morning,
We are getting closer to the finish line! As the year is winding down, the Edgewood band will be preparing to transition to the summer and beyond. Here are some important updates:
This week, instead of a writing prompt, I am asking that each student fill out the short google form linked here. Please fill out 1 form per student PER CLASS (so, students in jazz put JAZZ next to your name when you fill it out as a jazz band member so I can differentiate the results). This is an equipment/uniform accountability form that lets us know who has what, and what needs to be returned to us. We will cross reference the results of this with our inventory list. I ask that every student fill this out – even if you own your own instrument and uniform parts.
Placement auditions:
Placement into ensembles for the next school year will be determined by combining the body of work throughout the past school year with a playing assignment. We will use this placement assignment as our playing grade for the next 2 weeks with a due date of 5/24. We will not have any other assignments due before this time (other than the google form linked above). The passages were selected for their brevity to help ease the load during AP exams.
Further details of the assignments will be posted on each class page in Focus. Here is the overview:
*Passages marked “required” are for everyone including seniors and students not returning (they are our final assignments for the year). Only passages marked “required” will have an entry in Focus. Optional passages are for placement only, not for grades.
*Percussion students will have their own separate assignment due 5/24
Current Wind Ensemble:
Passage 1 (required)
Passage 2 (required)
Jazz Passage (optional – submit only if enrolling in jazz band and not currently in jazz)
Current Concert Band:
Passage 1 (required)
Passage 2 (optional – submit for consideration for Wind Ensemble)
Jazz Passage (optional – submit only if enrolling in jazz band and not currently in jazz)
Current Beginning/Symphonic Band:
Beginning/Symphonic Passage (required)
Passage 1 (optional – submit for consideration for Concert Band/Wind Ensemble)
Passage 2 (optional – submit for consideration for Wind Ensemble)
Jazz Passage (optional – submit only if enrolling in jazz band and not currently in jazz)
Current Beginning/Advanced Jazz:
Jazz Passage (required)
Assignments will be posted in SmartMusic/Focus today.
I would like to also remind students and parents to please send any photographs of the Edgewood Band to me. This also includes (and is encouraged) band students in/around the band room or performance venue, not just performances themselves. I’ve got some awesome submissions, but would love more!
I appreciate everyone’s continued patience and perseverance through this challenging time. I am so proud of the Edgewood Band community for continuing to do the best we can under less than ideal circumstances. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Bryan Fenzl
Good afternoon,
I would like to begin by congratulating everyone on their efforts thus far in handling the extreme challenges that distance learning presents us all. While it has been difficult for all subjects and disciplines, non-traditional classrooms such as fine arts and electives have encountered particularly unique sets of limitations while trying to maintain normal curriculums and activities that were already in place prior to our move to distance learning. Add to all of this the rigor that the academic environment of Edgewood Jr. Sr. High School provides - and our band students have had an awful lot asked of them over these past few weeks. I am very proud of everyone for doing their best in this situation.
As the picture of our future schedule very slowly begins to become clearer, we can finally start to make concrete plans of how the band program will both move forward from here, as well as honor our seniors and provide them an opportunity to look back at their time here at Edgewood.
As we all know, Florida has moved to distance learning for the remainder of the school year. This of course means that our spring concert will unfortunately be cancelled. Spring band concerts are events looked forward to by programs across the country, and I know we all share in the disappointment and frustration of not being able to take the stage one last time this year. With our end-of-year band banquet also having been cancelled, I ask that everyone email me any photographs of the band (preferably from this year) that you may have, as we compile an online tribute to the 2019-2020 Edgewood Band and its seniors. Additionally, I will send communication to senior parents with a little more information – so if you are a senior parent, please stay tuned,
I have posted a 2020-2021 Edgewood Band Leadership application packet on Focus (in the “resources” section of your band class page). Included in this packet is an introduction letter, list and definitions of the leadership positions for next year, questionnaire, short response questions, 2 essay questions, and a student contract (with parent signature). Any/all students interested in applying for band leadership next year may choose to either print and handwrite the packet or simply type it out in the document. However, the signature page must be printed out and signed. It can then either be scanned in or simply photographed and attached when submitting the completed application to me via email. If you have a problem printing (it happened in the Fenzl house...we ran out of ink and my son needed to print something for school) please let me know and we will find an alternative route.
We will not have a listening/writing prompt for the upcoming week (week of 5/4). We will only have a playing assignment in SmartMusic. This is to allow all students an opportunity to catch up on any missing assignments, as well as time for filling out the leadership application for any interested students. Please email me directly if you have any questions about missing work, and I will do my very best to help find a solution.
We will use SmartMusic to have placement auditions for next year in the form of an assignment (all students will have the same material). This will occur soon – I will notify everyone through email/focus/band app/webpage.
I am still waiting to learn the logistics of the school district collecting items at the end of the year (for us this means school instruments and any uniform parts/pieces that are at home). As soon as I have that information, I will communicate it out via email, focus, band app, and website.
Again, thank you all for all you do. Students – you guys are amazing and resilient! Keep up the good work, we are so close to the summer! Parents – thank you for your continued support as we all get through this together. As a parent myself of kids doing distance learning here – you all have my upmost respect! Sharing devices in the house, keeping your own kids on task with their school work (often times teaching it to them), all while maintaining your own work load is something probably none of us saw ourselves doing just a few short months ago!
Please reach out to me if you have any questions, and I will always do everything I can to help find a solution. And please send me some Edgewood band photos!
-Mr. Fenzl
Good afternoon Edgewood Band,
Due to the Brevard Public Schools closures, we will unfortunately have to officially cancel our Band Banquet that was scheduled for May 2nd at the Radisson. As a band teacher of many years (and a former junior and senior high school band member myself) I completely understand the importance of a banquet at the end of the year – and I was really looking forward to sharing and experiencing my first banquet with the Edgewood Band. In particular, I want to express my sincere sympathy to our seniors. I know this is just one of many special activities that have been affected or cancelled due to our current world events.
We will continue to monitor the situation, and perhaps look for an alternative if we return to normal school operations this school year. I will be in contact with our administration regarding potential options, and I will communicate them with the band community as quickly as I am able. For the time being, we will continue to persevere and move forward with our online instruction while hoping for a return to class on May 4th.
Also, we still have our concert scheduled for May 6th. At this time, we are not cancelling it – however we will constantly be monitoring the situation and may need to alter those plans if the closures are again extended. Should that happen, I will pursue alternatives if we are able to return before the break. If we are able to have a concert, it will have to be abbreviated with some potential for “recycled” material. I will assign all preparation for the concert through SmartMusic as well as Focus.
As the school year begins to draw to a close, we will also need to conduct logistics remotely that otherwise would have been done in our band room. We will need to complete instrument rentals from this school year (2019-20), school instrument returns (I am still ironing out how that will even work with current circumstances), summer rentals, as well as placement auditions for next year’s students. Please stay tuned for information regarding all of these things and any other important communication from me or the district.
-Bryan Fenzl
Hello Edgewood Band!
The following message was posted on my homepage in Focus for every band class. I will not be sending out information posted there through emails like this in the future (it will be daily, and different for the classes) unless there is an important or general announcement. Monday’s assignment will be posted later today. Hang in there!! We’ve got this!!!
-Mr. Fenzl
We will be starting our new chapter this week! Again, I know there will be an adjustment period – but I am confident we can be successful in this new online format. All of the band directors in the county have been collaborating for the past week and sharing ideas and resources to make the best of our circumstances.
The makers of Smartmusic have allowed public schools affected by COVID-19 closures to access their content and product for free for the remainder of the year. Smartmusic is an amazing program that allows students to record and submit playing assignments to the teacher to hear, as well as play accompaniment tracks (and even student parts – including the entire Accent on Achievement method book we use in 1st and 3rd period) along with students at home. We will be using this program for the remainder of our online learning time (whatever that may be), however, due to the extremely high demand across the country, I am still awaiting the final approval of our application. I anticipate it to go through this week. Until then, I will just assign practice times and reflection paragraphs. There is no need to do anything with Smartmusic (or make any recordings) yet – I will give out instructions once I have the information.
Until we can start using Smartmusic, all band students will have 2 assignments per day: 25 minutes of practicing (this week), and a written paragraph on an assigned prompt. The paragraph can be uploaded on Focus along with written detail of the practice session (this is how the students will earn credit for their practice time). **Percussionists will be focusing on snare drum/practice pad, however if percussion students have bells or other keyboard instruments, they may use them if applicable.
Each assignment will be due the following day, but posted the day before. For example, I will post Monday’s assignment today (Sunday) and it will be due Tuesday. I will post Friday’s assignment on Thursday and it will be due the following Monday. We will begin this process with short practice times and a simple paragraph as we get “into the flow” of everything.
These first few days I am mainly concerned with students just getting time on their instruments
again. We will have a few parameters, but our main objective is to get reacquainted with our instruments.
Good afternoon Edgewood band students and parents,
We will be doing our very best over the next few weeks to adapt our band classroom into an online and virtual experience. While this is obviously not an ideal environment for instrumental music classrooms involving ensemble or group playing – we will constantly be exploring technology available to find new ways to successfully continue our year with the Edgewood Band.
Moving forward, the band classes will consist of listening and reflection assignments, as well as playing assignments (audio and/or video submissions). The mechanics and logistics of how all this will work is currently being developed this week.
The playing assignments will require the use of instruments. If an instrument was left at school before spring break, please email me as soon as possible (fenzl.bryan@brevardschools.org) so that we may set up a time for instruments to be picked up. We will do our best to coordinate with school personnel to schedule pick up times as needed.
I appreciate everyone’s patience as we navigate these uncharted waters together. As a parent myself of 2 children here “social distancing” at our home, I am already encountering unique challenges with each of them and their own upcoming virtual school environments (and the logistics of combining everyone’s schedule 24/7 under one roof). So, I fully understand that my students will all have their own sets of challenges, and expectations from their teachers. While I am anticipating some bumps in the road as the Edgewood Band initially figures things out – I am confident that we will hit our stride and make the very best of the circumstances.
Again, please let me know if you need to pick up an instrument. I will continue to be in touch!!
-Bryan Fenzl
Good morning,
We are officially one week away from our Wind Ensemble and Concert Band MPAs! The students have been doing an amazing job and I am so proud of their efforts and improvements as they prepare for their performances next week.
We are still in desperate need of A+ volunteers for both Wednesday the 11th and Thursday the 12th. We need 5 chaperones per day, and currently have 3 for Wednesday 2 for Thursday. I do realize the difficulty of committing that amount of time during a workday (when considering my own children and their school functions) and can only ask our awesome band parents to consider it for our students next week so they can get to Eau Gallie HS for their MPA performances.
Also, please begin assembling all the concert uniform pieces for the Wind Ensemble and Concert Band students, so that they are ready to go next week.
Thank you again for all you do! I am very proud of the Edgewood Band program and am excited for our upcoming performances!
-Bryan Fenzl
Good morning,
After working very hard on their MPA programs (and having a very successful pre-MPA performance last week!), the Edgewood Concert Band and Wind Ensemble are just about ready for their MPA Performances next week at Eau Gallie High School! Permission forms went out yesterday in 4th and 7th period so if your student is in either of those classes please be on the lookout.
Each ensemble will be taking school buses to travel to EGHS. We will be eating lunch at Edgewood and changing into concert dress PRIOR to boarding our buses. We are finalizing the times students will be called down from their classes and will push that information out as soon as possible (I wanted to get the other times out to everyone ASAP).
We do have volunteer needs for this event! If you are an A+ volunteer and are available to chaperone the trip (ride the bus to and from the event), we would love to have you join us! We are looking for 5 chaperones per day. Also, we will need help transporting some of our larger equipment (tubas, etc.) to EGHS and back each day. If you have a truck/van/suv and are willing to take some instruments for us, please contact Mr. Fenzl and we can work out the details.
Parents that would like to sign out and pick up their student from Eau Gallie HS after the MPA performance and sight reading is complete may do so if: 1) a written note is given to Mr. Fenzl prior to the performance day, 2) the parent picking up the student signs the student out in person with Mr. Fenzl 3) understands that if the buses are loaded to return and the parent has not yet arrived, the student must get on the bus and return to Edgewood.
Here are the times we have so far:

PARENT MEETING
I would like to schedule a parent meeting in the Edgewood Band Room soon, to discuss many things including the band banquet, uniforms, instruments, schedules, and other important items. I appreciate everyone’s patience as we all navigate through our hectic MPA season, as well as choir and orchestra MPAs, and the Macbeth production occurring in the band room. I well send out a date soon and look forward to meeting with everyone!
Thank you so much! Please contact me with any questions!
-Bryan Fenzl
Good evening,
We just got word of our performance times for the concert band (4th period) and wind ensemble (7th period) pre-MPA performance for Thursday, February 20th. I appreciate everyone's patience as we have all awaited these final details of the evening. While initially we were not going to wear concert dress, we have decided to align with the other schools that are participating in the pre-MPA performance and wear our concert dress (white tops and black slacks for concert band, ladies in dresses and gentlemen in black slacks/white shirts/cummerbunds and bowties/jackets for wind ensemble). Friends and family are welcome to attend. There will be judges providing feedback - simulating the MPA experience.
I have been very happily attending the solo and ensemble event yesterday and today. We had 46 students perform over the past 2 days and every single one of our students received a superior or excellent rating! Congratulations to ALL students that participated! I was unable to access my computer while at the event, so we got the word about our pre-MPA times out as soon as possible via the "band app." Here is the message that went out earlier, and will also be posted on our website:
"We will be performing for Pre-fest (pre-MPA) this Thursday (2/20) at Merritt Island High School. Concert Band students must be at MIHS by 6 for a 6:30 performance while Wind Ensemble students need to be there by 7 to perform at 7:30. Students may leave immediately after playing and are NOT required to stay afterwards. Also note: both ensembles should be in concert uniform for this event!"
****ALSO: The preliminary schedule for the concert MPA has now been set! Wind Ensemble (7th Period) will perform on Wednesday, March 11 at 4:30pm. Concert Band (4th Period) will perform the next day on Thursday, March 12 at 1:00 pm.
We will keep our website updated, as well as push out information on the band app as it becomes available.
Again, thank you for your patience as we have all awaited these details. Congratulations again to our Edgewood band students, and we are looking forward to some more exciting weeks!
-Mr. Fenzl

Students will report directly to Merritt Island High School with their instruments and in their uniforms at 5:45 pm. Please note the concert begins at 6:30, the Edgewood newsletter sent out this week mistakenly listed the time at 6:00. We are excited to start playing for the audience at 6:30!
If any families would like to display a poinsettia at the edge of the stage for our concert, you are encouraged to bring them in and take them back home with you!
BAND UNIFORMS:
We will be changing the uniforms slightly for the winter concert, as we look to eventually update what our band students wear for concerts.

Good afternoon,
We are just 3 days away from the parade and getting excited! 4th period and 7th period will be going outside this week to practice for the big day Saturday. We do need some parent volunteers to help us in the parade. We will need some parents that can walk with the band and hand out water when/if needed, as well as taking pictures of the group. We will also need some help handing out water at Edgewood at the conclusion of the parade. If you can volunteer to help us, please email Mr. Fenzl with your contact information (email and cell phone) so we can get more details to you.
LARGE INSTRUMENTS – All students will be responsible for bringing their instruments to Merritt Island High School on Saturday morning. They may bring them home on Friday afternoon if desired. Additionally, Mr. Fenzl will be at the Edgewood Band room from 8:30am – 8:45am on Saturday and can meet with any families that would like to pick up their instrument on their way to Merritt Island High School. Please remember that he will not be able to stay at Edgewood and will lock up before heading out, so if you are picking up an instrument Saturday morning please arrive between 8:30 – 8:45.
Please email Mr. Fenzl if you have any further questions. Thank you,
Bryan Fenzl
Good morning,
We are excited for our performances over the next 2 weeks, and have some reminders/updates:
HOLIDAY PARADE (**wind ensemble (7th pd) and concert band (4th pd) only**)
We are excited to be participating once again in the Merritt Island Holiday Parade on Saturday, December 7th. The parade will once again begin at Merritt Island High School and conclude here at Edgewood Jr Sr High School. Students need to arrive at Merritt Island High School at 9:15 am. The parade is scheduled to step off at 10:00 am to be complete by 11:30 am.
We will be wearing our red Edgewood Band polos and jeans. If a student does not own a band polo (or no longer fits in the one they have), please contact Mr. Fenzl. We do have a small number of extras for loan just in case. Also, please keep an eye on the weather. We will modify what we are wearing if necessary (i.e. long sleeves under the polo, jacket, etc.). As of now it looks like low 70s with only a 20% of rain for Saturday.
Students need to be picked up at Edgewood by 12:00 pm. We will need parent volunteers to help transport equipment and walk with the band (please stay tuned for an email with volunteer sign up instructions).

Good morning!
What an exciting start of the year for the Edgewood band! We are finally starting to “find our groove,” with all band periods getting into a routine and playing more literature. We have some news and information to share:
ALL STATE BAND AUDITIONS HOSTED AT EDGEWOOD: We will be hosting All-State band auditions here at Edgewood on September 21st from 7:15 am – 2:15 pm. We need help with the “band director breakfast” – a hospitality effort for the band directors who also serve as the judges. If you are able, please visit https://www.signupgenius.com/go/409084da8aa2ca1f94-2019 to sign up to help with this effort. Every $5 spent does count as one service hour!
EDGEWOOD BAND PARENTS FACEBOOK PAGE: All Edgewood Band parents are invited and encouraged to join the Facebook page “Edgewood Band Parents.” This is a good forum for parents new to band, and a good place for current information as well as connecting with other band parents.
EDGEWOOD BAND WEBSITE: We also have the Edgewood Band website up and running, and we will soon be adding all the information sent out via email, as well as all dates, assignments, forms, etc. It has recently “gone live” and will soon be another good source for up to date information. https://sites.google.com/share.brevardschools.org/ejshbands/home
