The Glimcher Visiting Maker Program at Shady Side Academy
Shady Side Academy is excited to offer a Visiting Maker Program, inviting innovative creators, educators, and industry professionals to join our vibrant learning community as temporary residents. This program is designed to inspire creativity, collaboration, and hands-on learning among our students and faculty while providing a platform for the Visiting Maker to share their expertise and passion.
Program Highlights:
Residency: Visiting Makers will be given hotel accommodations for 3-4 days, and Uber transportation to and from Shady Side Academy.
Workshops & Projects: Lead hands-on workshops, design challenges, or collaborative projects that align with your expertise in areas such as engineering, technology, design, art, or entrepreneurship.
Engagement: Collaborate with students across all grade levels, from Pre-K to Grade 12, through classes, clubs, or special events.
Access to Facilities: Utilize the Glimcher Tech & Design Hub, a state-of-the-art maker space, to bring your ideas to life and mentor students in their creative pursuits.
Showcase: Present your work and experiences during your stay through a culminating showcase, lecture, or exhibition for the school community.
Ideal Candidates:
We seek dynamic individuals with a passion for hands-on learning and innovation. Candidates may include:
Artists, engineers, or designers pushing the boundaries of creativity.
Professionals in STEM fields or the humanities exploring interdisciplinary approaches.
Educators, entrepreneurs, or researchers with a knack for inspiring others.
