Dear Middle School Parents and Guardians, 

Welcome back to school! We’re excited to share highlights from the past month and provide some important updates as we head into October. It has been a great start to a school year filled with learning, exploration, and community-building.  

High School Visitation Day

• On Wednesday, 9/17, our middle school students participated in High School Visitation Day. They had the opportunity to learn more about academic programs, extracurricular activities, and student life at several local co-ed Archdiocesan schools (Cardinal O’Hara, Archbishop Carroll, and Bonner/Prendergast), four all-boys schools (Devon Prep, Malvern Prep, La Salle College High School, and St. Joseph’s Prep), and three all-girls schools (Academy of Notre Dame, Sacred Heart Academy, and Merion Mercy Academy).

• Each school presented to our students and engaged them in meaningful dialogue about what to expect in high school and how to find the right fit. We’re grateful for the participation of all the schools and proud of how our students represented Sacred Heart.

Restart Field Day

• On Friday, 9/19, middle schoolers gathered at Veterans Field for Restart Day, a fun-filled event held to celebrate our "One Book, One Middle School" initiative. Students participated in team-building games, including a marshmallow balancing challenge, kickball, and ultimate frisbee.

• A special highlight of the day was reading the letters written by parents and guardians. Thank you for taking the time to write such thoughtful messages. Your words meant a lot to the students and helped make the day even more meaningful!

High School Placement Test (HSPT) 

• Our 8th grade students took the HSPT on Wednesday, 9/24. In preparation for this important assessment, all middle school students have been attending "Study Skills" sessions focused on test-taking strategies. These sessions will continue throughout the school year and will cover additional practical academic skills, including note-taking, organization, and time management. 
  
  

LOOKING AHEAD...

School Liturgy & Student Council Installation

• Join us for our next school liturgy and the installation of our newly selected Student Council members on Friday, 10/3 at 10:00 AM. Families are warmly invited to attend.

School Picture Day

• School Picture Day will take place on Wednesday, 10/8. More details will be sent home soon regarding ordering options and attire guidelines.
