How did the Service Learning Opportunities you participated in develop your 5Cs?
They developed my 5Cs by improving my Competence, Creativity, Character, Commitment to Achieve, and Collaboration though all the experiences and challenges that I have encountered and overcome.
What are the new knowledge and skills that you learned or get to improve through the SL opportunities? How?
Some new skills and new knowledge that I learned was how helping people truly is a great thing to do for your character. As well as improving my social skills and help me step out of my boundaries and achieve and learn new things.
In what way/s have those SL experiences shaped your character (i.e. respect, responsibility, positive relationship, humility, integrity)?
These experiences shaped my character by always showing respect to the people I serve, be responsible with the tasks that I have to achieve, keep positive relationships with my teammates during service learning, and to always show humility and integrity even in the hardest of times.
How were you able to work collaboratively through the SL opportunities?
I was able to work collaboratively through many experiences by always being in a team while serving and helping people. Being in a team has helped my team work skills and leadership skills.
What were the challenges you have taken (in the SL opportunities) and how were you able to overcome them?
Some challenges I have taken were stepping out of my comfort zone with speaking with many different people, partake in public speaking, and giving myself extra work. I was able to overcome them with the discipline and hardwork I put into my efforts.
In what way/s have the SL opportunities caused you to think and/or act differently?
One way that the SL opportunities have helped my think differently and helped my creativity are when I entered the Global Ambassador and chose to represent my class. This helped me by helping my creativity throughout all the clothing choice, speech, video making, and much more when representing Switzerland, our assigned national country.
SERVICE LEARNING (3RD TERM)
QUADRANT IV BOOTH
This is our Quadrant IV Booth! In our booth, we sold milkshakes, peach iced tea, and a spam egg rice meal. This is to gain income for the future.
COMPETENCE
WHAT ARE THE NEW KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS THAT YOU LEARNED OR GET TO IMPROVE THROUGH THE SL OPPORTUNITIES? HOW?
Some new knowledge and skills that I have learned are some culinary skills. For example, learning how to make a drink with certain ingredients and learning how to make a spam rice meal. Additionally, I improved my collaboration skills through lots of challenges that we faced as a group and learning how to overcome them.
CHARACTER
IN WHAT WAY/S HAVE THOSE SL EXPERIENCES SHAPED YOUR CHARACTER (I.E. RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, POSITIVE RELATIONSHIP, HUMILITY, INTEGRITY)?
These SL experiences helped shaped my character by giving my and my team challenges that we're difficult to overcome. This built my character by learning a lot about responsibility, integrity, and relationship. Handling lots of people and financing taught me lots of things.
COLLABORATION
HOW WERE YOU ABLE TO WORK COLLABORATIVELY THROUGH THE SL OPPORTUNITIES?
I was able to work collaboratively through this by respecting and understanding my team and properly communicating effectively.
COMMITMENT TO ACHIEVE
WHAT WERE THE CHALLENGES YOU HAVE TAKEN (IN THE SL OPPORTUNITIES) AND HOW WERE YOU ABLE TO OVERCOME THEM?
Some challenges that appeared were some miscommunication. Although, we were able to overcome them by properly understanding each other and helping each other with the problem. We also encountered some issues with selling out too early since we did not plan to have that many sales, but we managed to find a solution by working together to gather and buy more products.
CREATIVITY
IN WHAT WAY/S HAVE THE SL OPPORTUNITIES CAUSED YOU TO THINK AND/OR ACT DIFFERENTLY?
Throughout the SL, opportunities that made me think differently was learning to understand people and learning how to handle situations with people. Since I had a shift as a cashier, I handled lots of situations where I had to manage my team and talk to people with social skills.
