In the iOPAL program students experience an inquiry based program that focuses on students' interests, intellect, and their independence as learners. Inquiry, an internationally recognized learning method, is designed to guide students through learning experiences that create deep knowledge and deep understanding of a curriculum theme or topic. Inquiry leads students gradually toward independence in their own learning.

Based on Shark Tank, the entrepreneurial-themed reality show, students are asked to come up with an idea for a new product or business. Students research and develop an idea then present their invention or innovation to a group of Sharks from the school or outside community.
