Hello, families! I am looking forward to getting to know all of you as we embark on our First Grade journey together. This is my fourteenth year teaching First Grade here at St. Francis and my twenty-fourth class of students!
I have known since I was very young that teaching is my passion. I earned a B.S. in Elementary Education at The University of Maine in Orono and went on to earn my Master of Education in Literacy Degree at Providence College.
I am licensed in Massachusetts as a Teacher of Elementary Grades 1-6 and as a Reading Specialist and have taught within Grades 1-4 in both Catholic and public schools.
My daughter is a current SFX middle schooler! My two sons are SFX alumni, and my older son is a recent Bishop Stang graduate! What a blessing it is to be part of this school community where Jesus is at the core of all that we do and where each child's spiritual, social/emotional, intellectual, and physical growth is continuously nourished and valued. We work and learn in a community where we are encouraged to "let our lights shine" as people of faith, hope, and charity and where we are given opportunities to use our God-given gifts to offer hope to others.
When we are not at school or at our parish, my family enjoys reading, playing games, going on outdoor adventures, and traveling to visit friends and family.
First Grade is an exciting year! Students will become more fluent readers and writers, will become more aware of their positive contributions to the classroom community, and will gain more independence with academic and organizational skills. This is also the year when they will become published authors! I am confident that we can work as a team to have a wonderful and successful school year.
Meet Mrs. Araujo, my classroom aide!
We have been a team for 13 years now!!
