Families & Teachers

The California Dance Standards are focused around four Artistic Processes:

Create / Perform / Respond / Connect.

This means that students will not only get a chance to learn some choreographed dances, but they will have many opportunities to explore the following:

  • learning body awareness and control to express themselves in different ways

  • creating their own movement phrases with guidance

  • experimenting with changing dynamics of movement (levels, force, pathways, size, speed, etc.)

  • observing dances - learning how to observe and share their reactions

  • performing dances for others

  • connecting dance and creative movement to their family's cultures, world cultures, and historical eras.
