Using the creative problem solving process of Human-Centered Design, SFA Fellows research, develop ideas and test their solutions for the school food challenges they care about.
Guest speakers from the food, research, and design world share their expertise and mentor SFA Fellows on their team projects.
SFA Fellows provide their feedback on menu items and other Student Nutrition projects.
SFA Fellows have participated in Student Nutrition Association Legislative Action Conferences. In 2019, SFA Fellows traveled to Sacramento and Washington, D.C. to speak with their State and National Representatives to advocate for school food issues.
After completion of the SFA Fellowship, students are eligible to apply to a paid SFUSD Summer Internship. Read more about the Student Nutrition internship experience on the blog!
At the end of the program, SFA Fellows celebrate and share insights for the school food challenges they researched and designed solutions for during the SFA Project Showcase.
Parents, SFUSD staff, and community stakeholders are encouraged to attend for an evening of student recommendations for the future of school food!
