Hoover Athletics
Welcome to Hoover Athletics
At Hoover Middle School, athletics is more than a program—it’s a passion, a purpose, and a pathway to growth. As proud members of the California Interscholastic Federation’s San Francisco Section, also known as the Academic Athletic Association (AAA), we compete in the most competitive middle school league in the city. Our program includes boys and girls basketball, co-ed baseball, girls softball, Co-Ed track and field, boys and girls soccer, girls volleyball and non-AAA league for boys volleyball, co-ed futsal and co-ed flag football (run by BEACON after school program). We also offer lunchtime sports clubs that help students stay active, build friendships, get to know the coaches and develop a love for sports and teamwork.
At Hoover, we believe in the power of inclusive opportunities and the life-changing impact of sports. While our league is highly competitive and roster spots are limited, we are committed to supporting every student who shows they want to grow through athletics—whether that’s on a team, in a development role on the practice squad, or through our sports clubs. We focus on effort, growth, and attitude just as much as ability, and we strive to create an environment where students feel seen, supported, and inspired to keep improving.
Athletics at Hoover teaches more than just the game—it builds character, confidence, leadership, and resilience. Our student-athletes learn to push themselves, work as a team, and represent their school with pride and integrity.
Our mission is to prepare every Hoover student to be high school-ready—academically, socially, and athletically. The experiences gained through sports at Hoover will lay a foundation for success, not only in competition, but in life.
This is more than sports. This is family. This is Hoover Athletics.
Let’s soar together—
GO HAWKS!!

2025 Hoover Volleyball Alumni Game
This year’s Hoover Volleyball Alumni Game was more than just a match—it was a celebration of growth, connection, and legacy. Former players from our boys and girls teams returned not only to play but to lead, inspire, and reconnect with the Hoover community.
It was powerful for our current students to see those who once wore the same jersey now stepping into young adulthood—many taking on leadership roles in athletics, others excelling in their own paths but all showing how beneficial teamwork is as they grow. Their words of encouragement, their energy, and their presence reminded us all of the lasting impact of teamwork, dedication, athletics and school pride.
Moments like these are what make Hoover special.
Once a Hawk, always a Hawk.
