Academic Integrity Policy: Use of AI Tools
Assessments
AI tools may be used as a study aid or tutor to help you prepare for assessments such as quizzes or exams. However, you may not use AI tools to complete the actual assessment unless Ms. Abrons specifically says otherwise. All submitted work must reflect your own understanding and effort.
Assignments
AI tools may not be used on assignments without prior permission. If you want to use an AI tool for a specific part of an assignment (e.g., brainstorming or checking grammar), you must ask first.
Using AI without permission may be considered cheating and could result in a failing grade. Assignments are designed to help you learn the content and standards - not to test your ability to use AI to find answers.
Bias & Critical Thinking
When AI tools are used, it's important to think critically about their responses. AI can sometimes produce incorrect or biased information. Always evaluate AI-generated content carefully, and cross-check with reliable sources before using it in your work.
Citations
If you use AI-generated content in an assignment, you must clearly disclose and cite it. This includes explanations of how AI was used. You may use the following citation guidelines:
Plagiarism:
Using AI to brainstorm or gather initial ideas is allowed, but submitting AI-generated content as your own work is plagiarism. This includes copying and pasting answers, writing, or code from AI without proper citation. Plagiarism will result in a failing grade and may have further academic consequences.
