READING AND WRITING
WELCOME STUDENTS AND PARENTS
I have been teaching at Deer Creek for the past 24 years all of which have been in 7th and 8th grades. This year I will be teaching 7th grade Reading and Writing. My classroom is organized around the values of respect and responsibility. Students show respect for myself, other staff, their peers, and themselves. This helps our classroom run smoothly and allows everyone a chance to learn and feel comfortable doing so. Taking responsibility for their learning and their actions is the key to students success. I believe all students, regardless of past educational experiences, can be productive members of our classroom and have a right to a quality education. I have 30 years of experience teaching middle school language arts and greatly enjoy the challenges that middle schoolers bring to the classroom each day!
I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education (1-8) from Cardinal Stritch University and a Master's Degree in Education with a focus in At-Risk Education from Marian University.
My husband, Chris, and I have 3 children - Shannon (25), Caitlin (22), and Logan (19). We enjoy spending quality, family time together, traveling, and exploring new activities. Personally, I enjoy reading, working on the computer, photography, gardening, and baking.
