Kindergarten

My name is Jennifer Corral. I have two children who attend school here at Gonzales. I have a daughter in 4th Grade and a son in 1st Grade. I have been married for 12 years. I grew up in Western Washington State. I have lived in Santa Fe for 21 years. I have 26 years experience working in Early Childhood. I began working with children when I was 11 years old with my mother who was at that time a certified Montessori Teacher. I later became her teaching assistant. I have also substituted here in Santa Fe while going to school. I have an Elementary Education Degree from the College Of Santa Fe. I also have my 45-Hour entry level certification in Early Childhood from SFCC. I have taught at Dessert Montessori, St. Johns United Methodist Preschool, Holy Cross Catholic School in Santa Cruz, Pablo Roybal Elementary School in Pojaoque and I am currently in my 3rd year teaching at GCS. I am TESOL endorsed and am currently serving as the LAT (Language Assistance Team) leader for the school. This is my 3rd year working with the drama club and my 2nd year as the director. I enjoy participating in the staff performance of NDI here at GCS as well as being a member of our PTA.

I'm Kathleen Perea. In my 23 years of teaching, I have taught 4th, 3rd, 2nd, and 1st grade. For the last 9 years, I have taught kindergarten. I love teaching early childhood, and I believe in a hands on approach to learning. I often incorporate music, movement, and the visual arts to teach the Common Core standards. I have had the same assistant, Toni Chavez for the last 7 years, and this year, Jamie Chavez has joined our team, sharing the job with Toni. We work as a team with the common goal to ensure all our students build a lifelong love of learning during their kindergarten year.
