To qualify as an external clinical site:
The external clinical site must provide students access to a population that offers significant opportunity for spiritual care, on-going support and consultation for the student(s), opportunities for interdisciplinary and professional interchange, and an environment that encourages human growth and dignity.
Site Agreement must be signed prior to the start of CPE unit, and it must indicate specific dates of CPE unit, the onsite preceptor and the number of hours.

5. Who can be a preceptor and what are the responsibilities? The preceptor onboarding form covers all the necessities, but for your information:
Preceptor: Your preceptor is your clinical supervisor at your external clinical site, and that person is the point-of-contact with SFNM and your CPE educator. The preceptor is a contextually relevant professional practicing in and recognized by the clinical placement site and the ACPE Certified Educator. Recognition for this role requires one or more of the following: professional licensing, professional certification/authority to function in their role; and/or an advanced degree in their field of expertise; and/or faith group endorsement/local equivalent process.
Responsibilities of the Preceptor: Orient the student to your placement site and ensure that the student understands the context for this placement; address student’s questions and learning needs about the placement site; communicate with the ACPE Certified Educator on a regular basis about fulfillment of the student’s administrative obligations and the responsibilities outlined in the clinical site agreement. This includes the student’s clinical work, work habits, and investment in the learning process at the placement site.
6. Preceptor engagement: student will sharing their learning goals with preceptor; preceptor and educator will meet to discuss student's progress and experience; preceptor will complete an online evaluation at the end of the unit.
