The world sometimes feels as if it is coming apart or spiraling out of control. Despair, alienation, and anxiety are on the rise. Night Ministry's mission of increasing access to spiritual care is needed more than ever. Night Ministry rekindles hope in the darkest hours.

Night Ministry has always relied upon individual and group legacy giving to operate. Bequests and gifts go into our investment account to supplement annual regular revenues from fundraising, events, and grants. Legacy giving keeps us walking every night!

Night Ministry explores funding from private foundations, government contracts, and partners. Planned giving with "no strings attached" and less administrative costs enables us to serve our folks more freely and more robustly.

Year over year, Night Ministry is a spiritual lifeline to more and more folks in need. In 2022, we had 34,986 ministry contacts, including 7,641 on our telephone Care Line alone. Almost nightly, we support callers with suicidal ideation. Many people rely on Night Ministry!

Night Ministry offers Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) accredited by the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education and the U.S. Department of Education. We have trained over 90 seminarians, rabbis, and other leaders, including many Lutherans and Episcopalians.

Since the first month of our founding in September 1964, Night Ministry has been working alongside our LGBTQ+ friends and partners to bring more love, acceptance, understanding, and peace into the world. We are a spiritually queer social justice movement!

For 60 years Night Ministry has been operating as a grassroots organization. We are a San Francisco treasure with a national reach. Over 90% of our regular donations are less than $500, with many less than $50. Night Ministry is a beloved part of the community!
