About this class
Goal of Technology Classes at St. Francis De Sales School
The goal of technology instructions at our school is to help our students develop into true digital age learners.
Curriculum and Standards
We follow Texas Essential Skills and Knowledge (TEKS) in Technology Application standards
Fourth Grade Technology Classes
Students visit computer lab once a week for 45 minutes. During their time here they are invoved in the following:
- Technology vocabulary - understanding the terms
- Online research: search engines strategies, evaluating online information, putting information together; avoiding plagiarism
- Copyright and fair use
- Google Suite of applications (Slides, Sheets, Docs, and others)
- Coding
- Internet safety activiites
- Digital arts
- Computer skills including keyboarding.
Fifth Grade Technology Classes
Students come to computer lab once a week for 30 minutes. During this time, they are involved in the following activities:
- Online search: how to read a webpage, evaluating websites, Google search tips
- Tech vocabulary activities
- Internet safety activities; internet safety project
- Coding
- Projects: variety of digital arts
- Computer skills including keyboarding
- Google Suite of applications (Slides, Sheets, Docs, etc)
Sixth Grade Technology Classes
Sixth grade students will have technology as one of their electives. They will attened computer lab every day for 9 weeks. Each class is 45 minutes.
Students will be involved in applied digital skills activities, where they will use digital tools to solve real life problems. The skills they will develop include:
- Spreadsheet organization
- Digital Colalboration
- Decision making
- Presentations
- Research strategies
- Evaluating bias
- Programming events
- Research a topic
- Creating a report
- Communication
- Organize data
- Manipulate data
- Coding
- Digital arts
- Internet safety
Seventh Grade Technology Classes
Seventh grade students will have technology as one of their electives. They will attned computer lab every day for 9 weeks. Each class is 45 minutes.
Students will be involved in applied digital skills activities, where they will use digital tools to solve real life problems. The skills they will develop include:

Students will also be involved in coding and internet safety activities
Eighth Grade Technology Elective
Eighth grade students will have technology as one of their electives. They will attned computer lab every day for a quarter. Each class is 45 minutes.
Students will be involved in applied digital skills activities, where they will use digital tools to solve real life problems. The skills they will develop include:

About the teacher
Olga Jankowski graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from St. Petersburg (Russia) Electrical Engineering University. She holds a Master of Education degree from the University of St. Thomas in Houston and is certified by the State of Texas to teach science. Mrs. Jankowski is a member of the National Science Teacher Association (NSTA) , International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), Computer Science Teacher Association and Texas Computer Education Association. She recently became an ISTE Certified Educator.
