Girls Smash is fun cricket programme for girls only and is best suited to girls in school years 3-6. Sessions involve activities and skills followed by a six a side game. The whole session takes about an hour and is held after school for six weeks. Our focus is learn-as-you-play, and every girl is supported to participate at their own level. All equipment is provided, no experience is necessary, and every participant receives a free t-shirt!
Your local hub is at Wakefield Park, Island Bay, on the grass fields (not the turf). Sessions will be held on Tuesdays (31 October, 7, 14, 21, 28, November and December 5 2023) from 4.00-5.00pm.

Junior Summer Programme for players in Years 1 to 6 (Monday/Tuesday afternoons)
Wellington Hockey’s Junior Summer programme is a great opportunity for young players to try the sport for the first time or for existing players to grow their skills in a fun and inclusive environment.
This programme is led by WHA Coaches and involves a combination of skill development, and small games suitable for the age and stage of the players.

Year 7/8 Twilight Competition (Monday Evenings)
The competition is for years 7/8 players and is suitable for experienced hockey players or those new to the sport. It is a 6-week league and starts on Monday 30th October. The last game will be played on December 4, 2023. Teams can be school-based teams or just a group of friends.
Locations are Elsdon, Fraser Park and the National Hockey Stadium, Newtown. These locations are registration dependent.
It is a 6-a-side competition with one game per night 2x20 mins with 5 mins break on half turf. The earliest game will start time 5.00 p.m. and teams will need to provide their own umpires.

Public transport fares are changing
Metlink’s new fares, with new concessions for children and young adults, start Friday 1 September 2023, bringing ‘half price fares for all’ to an end.
The move is in alignment with the fare changes outlined in the Government's 2023 Budget announcement in May.
This is a reminder that if you are eligible for the new concessions for children 5-12 and young adults 19-24 you can apply now to ensure you receive the benefits as soon as possible.
From September 1:
Under 13s can apply for a Child Under 13 Free Pass on a green Snapper card to enable free travel
13 - 18 year olds (or older if still at secondary school) will receive 75% off the full price adult fare when using a green Snapper card, no application is required
19 - 24 year olds can apply for a Young Adult Connect concession on a red Snapper card to receive 50% off the full price adult fare
Over 25s will return to full price fares*
*Over 25s eligible for Tertiary, Accessible, and Community Connect will still have access to those concessions.

St Catherine’s College seeks applications for the position of Finance Administrator
As part of the administration team, you will be responsible for accounting and assisting with reception and back up payroll (EdPay) support within the College. Predominantly accounts payable, accounts receivable and daily banking. Knowledge of Xero, and GST would be preferable.
This is a permanent position.
You will have: strong attention to detail, with accurate numeracy skills being paramount: computer literacy; excellent communication and time management skills; a positive attitude with a commitment to teamwork and sharing tasks. Hours are: 10.30 am to 3.30 pm Monday to Friday (22.5 hours) in the school term time. Some hours will be required to be worked in the school holidays. These are negotiable. Develop teamwork, life skills, personal resilience whilst having fun in the outdoors.
The Suzanne Aubert Scout Group is open to both girls and boys: Keas (aged 5 – 8), Cubs (aged 8 – 11) and Scouts (aged 11 – 14) on Monday nights 6.30 – 8pm at St Anne’s Hall, 22 Emmett St Newtown.
This terms activities include: camping, campfire cooking, mountain biking, outdoor adventure, archery and swimming. Come along and join the adventure.

This programme is perfect for "Beginner's" and those wanting to find out more about the game and have fun.
Come along and improve technique, knowledge and skills.
In this programme we will focus on the core skills of control, dribbling, passing, tackling and shooting but MOST importantly having as much FUN as possible!

Years 1-4
For Beginners, these sessions will work on improving basic netball skills and help start to develop technical and tactical knowledge in accordance with the Future Ferns Programme. Children will work towards the following skills Passing, Shooting, Spatial Awareness and Defensive Skills.
Years 5-8:
These sessions will work on sharpening the basic skills - Passing and Shooting and we will start to develop a better understanding of the 7-aside game and the different positional roles.
We will use fun drills and games to develop and challenge young players focusing on the key skill areas for their level of development while also have fun!!.
