Engaging Men

Currently taking place in many schools across London (but hoping to expand), The Great Men project is a three hour long workshop in which a group of about 20 boys are able to have an open dialogue about gender socialization, inequalities between men and women, the concept of consent, relationships, male suicide, and more. As a result, they are empowered to be part of positive change toward gender equality.


In an interview, Terry Crews acknowledges the negative affect that male pride has on women, on men, and on society as a whole.

Jonathan Kalin, senior at Colby College, has started a program called “Party With Consent,” where he presents workshops for males focusing not on villainizing men, but on informing them of their privilege and encouraging them to utilize it to move towards positive change. He also explains the concept of gender socialization and encourages men to rethink their idea of “masculinity.”

Tony Porter talks about the devastating effects of socialization has had on himself, other men in his life, other women, and society, and he gives positive steps that individual men can take towards positive societal change.
