Take Home Folders
Every child will be given a Take Home Folder as a form of communication between home and school. This folder will be sent home each night and needs to be brought back to school every day.
Notes, daily graded work, homework and classroom news will be put in this folder. Inside the folder there are two pockets. The first pocket (left side) is labeled “return to school” but will also be used for important communication between home and school (homework, notes to/from home, permission slips, money, etc.)
The second pocket (right side) is labeled “keep at home” and will be used to send home daily completed work. I will check the folders every day.
Schoolbags are not checked in the classroom for money, notes, etc. Please make sure PIE’s are in folders also.
Money/Correspondence
All money or correspondence should be labeled and put on the “Return to School” side of your child’s folder. (left side)
Homework
Your child will have homework Monday - Thursday. Homework is given for practice and review of skills being covered in class. Research indicates that reading is one of the most important skills that students need for success. I am dedicated to growing your child into a strong, fluent reader, but I need your help! We begin reading very quickly in first grade and what we are reading in class needs to be practiced at home.
