There has been a dramatic increase in regional inequality in recent years due to housing instability, many people become homeless and struggle to survive. Most of them, those have lost their homes, are trying to work their ways out from the misery, yet this is never an easy task for them, on top is the problem of discrimination. Discrimination occurs when an individual is treated differently than another solely on the basis of some characteristic or indeed an interplay of characteristics. Despite the help of local food bank and shelter, many homeless people are rejected from restaurants and hotels not because of lack of money but simply because they are homeless. They need from their community nothing more than a little help, which could directly affect their lives and livelihoods.
People on street fighting discrimination against homeless
All men are created equal, we need to treat people in our community as we treat our own brothers and sisters. For those who have already lost there homes, we, as part of the big family, need to treat them with love and respect, and offer help to those in need whenever we are able to.
Think about it, if you walk on the street and someone comes over and ask for help, will you stop and listen to him? Sometimes discrimination happens without us noticing it, and that is because our society needs more trust, and it is up to us to bring that trust back to our lives.
People can never fully understand the hardship homeless people are facing if they themselves have not been in the same situation. Discrimination against homeless people will only put them into deeper misery, and worsen the depression that they feel. Such depression could potentially lead to issues like use of drug and violence. It is vital that we show those who are in need that we care about them, help them to believe in a better future.
