I am a senior at Serra High School with a strong background in athletics and leadership. Throughout high school, I have played both football and lacrosse, developing teamwork and discipline on and off the field. In addition to sports, I have held multiple leadership positions, demonstrating my ability to guide and inspire others. Starting in the fall, I will be attending Baylor University in which I look forward to continuing my growth in both academics and leadership.
I’m a student-athlete who enjoys taking on new challenges, whether it’s building a custom drone, designing a spaghetti bridge that held 48 kilograms, or competing on the soccer and lacrosse fields. Through my robotics club and summer programs at WPI and Johns Hopkins, I’ve developed skills in robotics, coding, and engineering, and I’m always looking to learn more. Outside of STEM, I enjoy baking, photography, and exploring nature. I’m excited to see where my passions and experiences take me next!
How does this relate to things we have done at Serra?
One thing that relates to what I have done at Serra is the Kairos retreat. During my time on Kairos, I learned a lot about me and my relationship with God. In addition, Kairos made me realize how appreciative I should be of the people in my life like teachers. Teachers have worked so hard for me and other students and I learned how thankful I should be that they are always there to help me.
This relates to the community service we are asked to complete each year at Serra. The community service helps me realize all the different people in our communities and how appreciative of them I should be. Similarly, this project is helping me realize how much we should appreciate Teachers, with how much they sacrifice to do so much for us.
Why do we care?
Throughout my career as a student, teachers have always been by my side, willing to take time before and after school to help me out and get the best grade possible. As someone who is a son of a teacher, I take notice from the stress and long days they work whether that is grading, having meetings before and after school, making lesson plans, or meeting with students during their free time to help them improve and it makes me appreciate the sacrifices my teachers make more. Seeing teachers like my mom work tirelessly to help their students reach their full potential and getting below average pay doesn’t seem fair.
My dad has gotten me and my sister involved with affordable housing for a long time, volunteering with nonprofits like Habitat for Humanity. Working with families to actually build their houses shows you how important home ownership is too so many people. I’ve been blessed with so many amazing teachers at Serra and at ISTP, and think it’s just unjust that these people who do so much for our communities, sometimes can't even live within an hour drive of the same communities they serve.
