Things I Love Things I Hate is my directorial debut, a modern version of Jean Pierre Jeunet's Foutaise. Both are short films driven by a voiceover, which reads a list of things that the protagonist loves and hates—each line accompanied by a visual aid. The list of things ranges from the most mundane and relatable experiences like an awkward handshake or finding sand, to more philosophical opinions like a love for the innocence of children. Things I Love Things I Hate uses an identical narrative structure to that of Foutaise, however I wrote my version to be true to myself, modernizing it in the process.
