Welcome to our virtual open house. The students have been working hard all year long on all their assignments! Here are some of their work showcased for you to see. Enjoy and be proud of your student for all they have accomplished this year and all that they have learned. I am so proud of each of my students for all their hard work and dedication to their learning. They have been an absolute joy to have this year! They make all the crazy we teachers went through this year totally worth it!
Bienvenidos a nuestra jornada de puertas abiertas virtual. ¡Los estudiantes han estado trabajando duro todo el año en todas sus asignaciones! A continuación, se muestran algunos de sus trabajos para que los vea. Disfrute y esté orgulloso de su estudiante por todo lo que ha logrado este año y todo lo que ha aprendido. I am Thankful!
Around thanksgiving our class talked a lot about the different things we were thankful for. The kids were challenged to come up with something they were thankful for each day and we wrote it on a pumpkin to count down the days until Thanksgiving.
Alrededor del día de acción de gracias, nuestra clase habló mucho sobre las diferentes cosas por las que estábamos agradecidos. Los niños tuvieron el desafío de pensar en algo por lo que estuvieran agradecidos cada día y lo escribimos en una calabaza para contar los días hasta el Día de Acción de Gracias.
Christmas Time
The class got to listen to many different read alouds as our Elf on the Shelf brought us at least one book each day. They enjoyed writing about where they found the elf and predicting where she was going to be next. Their eyes lit up each morning as they searched for her next spot in the classroom!
La clase pudo escuchar muchas lecturas en voz alta mientras nuestro Elf on the Shelf nos traía al menos un libro cada día. Disfrutaron escribiendo sobre dónde encontraron a la elfa y prediciendo dónde estaría después. ¡Sus ojos se iluminaban cada mañana mientras buscaban su próximo lugar en el salón de clases!
Taste Testing Fruit Cake from Around the World
The students got to learn different holiday traditions around the world. One holiday tradition is the giving and eating of fruit cake around Christmas time. The students got to try different kinds of fruit cakes from places like England, Italy, U.S., and Poland. They then did an activity where they they talked about how they were alike and different in each country. They had a lot of fun, but were surprised when they did not taste like they thought they would!
Los estudiantes pudieron aprender diferentes tradiciones navideñas alrededor del mundo. Una tradición navideña es dar y comer pastel de frutas durante la época navideña. Los estudiantes pudieron probar diferentes tipos de pasteles de frutas de lugares como Inglaterra, Italia, Estados Unidos y Polonia. Luego hicieron una actividad en la que hablaron sobre cómo eran iguales y diferentes en cada país. Se divirtieron mucho, ¡pero se sorprendieron cuando no sabían como pensaban!
Painted Lady Butterflies!!
Our class got to raise Painted Lady butterlies. The students learned the life cycle of a butterfly through books and activities. They got to see it in person as we watched the caterpillars get bigger and bigger until they made their chrysalis. This picture shows the students watching as one of the butterflies made its apperarance out of the chrysalis! They were so excited to watch it come out!
Nuestra clase consiguió criar mariposas Painted Lady. Los estudiantes aprendieron el ciclo de vida de una mariposa a través de libros y actividades. Lo vieron en persona mientras veíamos a las orugas crecer más y más hasta que hicieron su crisálida. ¡Esta imagen muestra a los estudiantes mirando como una de las mariposas hizo su aparición fuera de la crisálida! ¡Estaban tan emocionados de verlo salir!

Students learned how bread was made and got to eat it too!

Students were learning about models and got to make their own model out of different materials.
Los estudiantes estaban aprendiendo sobre modelos y pudieron hacer su propio modelo con diferentes materiales.
On St. Patricks Day students got to build their own traps for Lucky to see if they could catch him. They placed them in various spots around the room that would help their trap or where they thought Lucky might go. Lucky made a big mess, but was not caught this year!
El día de San Patricio, los estudiantes construyeron sus propias trampas para Lucky para ver si podían atraparlo. Los colocaron en varios lugares de la habitación que ayudarían a su trampa o donde pensaban que Lucky podría ir. ¡Lucky hizo un gran lío, pero no fue atrapado este año!
Plants!
Students got to learn hands on what a pant needed in order to grow. They got to be scientists and do a science experiment using beans. They each got to do their own greenhouse and we as a class did 3 experimental greenhouses. Each one took away one of the three main things plants need to grow. One did not have water, but did have sunlight and "soil". Another did not have "soil", but did have water and sunlight. The last was hidden in a dark cabinet. It did not have sunlight, but it did have "soil" and water. The students were amazed that the ones without "soil" and sunlight were still able to grow a little, but as time went on they saw that they would not be able to mature to adult plants becuase they did not have the three components they needed in order to grow.
Los estudiantes pudieron aprender de forma práctica lo que un pantalón necesitaba para crecer. Llegaron a ser científicos y hacer un experimento científico usando frijoles. Cada uno pudo hacer su propio invernadero y nosotros, como clase, hicimos 3 invernaderos experimentales. Cada uno eliminó una de las tres cosas principales que las plantas necesitan para crecer. Uno no tenía agua, pero tenía luz solar y "suelo". Otro no tenía "suelo", pero tenía agua y luz solar. El último estaba escondido en un armario oscuro. No tenía luz solar, pero tenía "suelo" y agua. Los estudiantes se sorprendieron de que los que no tenían "suelo" y luz solar todavía podían crecer un poco, pero con el paso del tiempo vieron que no podrían madurar hasta convertirse en plantas adultas porque no tenían los tres componentes que necesitaban en para crecer.
100 Days of School
Students got to participate in a 100 day celebration and do a lot of fun activities that revolved around the number 100!
¡Los estudiantes pudieron participar en una celebración de 100 días y hacer muchas actividades divertidas que giraban en torno al número 100!
Easter!
Dr. Seuss Day
Students did a whole week of Dr. Seuss projects and an author study. We also had a celbration for Dr. Suess's birthday. The kids enjoyed analyzing his books and thinking about some of the messages. For example, The Lorax talks about taking care of our earth. Their projects were awesome!
Los estudiantes hicieron una semana entera de proyectos del Dr. Seuss y un estudio de autor. También celebramos el cumpleaños del Dr. Suess. Los niños disfrutaron analizando sus libros y pensando en algunos de los mensajes. Por ejemplo, The Lorax habla de cuidar nuestra tierra. ¡Sus proyectos fueron increíbles!
First Grade Memories
First grade is coming to an end and students are starting to look back on what they learned and what their favorite part of first grade was. Each and every student has touched my heart this year and I am sad to see them go!
El primer grado está llegando a su fin y los estudiantes están comenzando a recordar lo que aprendieron y cuál fue su parte favorita del primer grado. ¡Todos y cada uno de los estudiantes han tocado mi corazón este año y me entristece verlos partir!
