Carlmont High School Young Democratic Socialists of America, a chapter of the larger Young Democratic Socialists of America, at its core, is a vehicle for social, economic, and political agency in the face of a system intricately tuned to cater to the greed of the few rather than the needs of the many. Our lives are dictated by the capitalist class such that we serve them at our own expense, both directly and indirectly. Thus, action must be taken in opposition to their agenda of domination and exploitation. Our mission is to educate and organize students and young people and to play a helpful and principled role in the movement for social justice. Within and throughout this struggle, we will articulate and defend the idea that true human liberation is impossible under capitalism.
In our pursuit of ultimate equity, all forms of societal and systemic oppression, peddled and profited from by the ruling class, including misogyny, racism, homophobia, and bigotry of all forms, must be eradicated. Carlmont YDSA is part of a movement to extend compassion and institute fundamental change for the empowerment of the people. On an individual level, vigilance against ignorance and education against hatred are pivotal. On a systemic one, it is clear that capitalism not only permits but exacerbates these injustices, and that its dissolution is necessary to truly liberate the people. We must shed the conditioning of complacency and unlock our imagination to possibilities beyond the status quo.
Together, as a unified entity, we can drastically, radically improve the conditions of us all!
