Sentara College - Surgical Technology program is accredited by CAAHEP and ABHES.

According to the Workforce Statistics & Economic Research Division of the Georgia Department of Labor the requirement listed that the requirements for working as Surgical technologist are graduate from a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited surgical technology program, or have previous or current certification as a surgical technologist, and pass exam.

However, GA does not set regulations for aspiring surgical technologist and a license is not required to work as a surgical technologist. There is not a law that requires surgical technologists in Georgia to hold certification; hence, Sentara College cannot cannot make any determination whether the Sentara College Surgical Technology programs meet the state of Georgia educational program requirements. Most employers within the state require their employees to be certified by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
