COVID Guidelines
The college has continued to monitor the COVID community level for Chesapeake and surrounding cities. All Hampton Road cities are currently at a low level.
Low Level Recommendations:
Wear a mask based on your personal preference, informed by your personal level of risk. Masks will not be provided.
If you are at risk for severe illness, wear a mask or respirator that provides you with greater protection.
Stay home if you are sick or experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.
Attending a large gathering or event increases your chance of being in close contact with people outside your household and being exposed to COVID-19.
Hand sanitizer will be available in designated areas of the venue.
Please Note: There will be no social distancing at the Pinning and Commencement Ceremonies. The college will be streaming the events on Facebook Live via the college Facebook page for individuals who do not feel comfortable attending or who are unable to attend.
Facebook Live
All ceremonies will be streamed live on our Facebook page. Head over to www.facebook.com/sentaracollege to watch! You do not need a Facebook account to join in.
Graduates' Entrance
For all ceremonies, graduates are to enter the conference center using the doors on the far right side (there will be signage).
Family and Friends' Entrance
Family and friends are to use the center doors to enter the conference center at the rotunda. Absolutely NO family/friends will be permitted to come into the graduates' area prior to the ceremonies.
More detailed information, including door opening times, for each ceremony is available on the specific ceremony's detail pages in the menu.
Admissions Tickets for Family and Friends
Family and friends are required to have tickets in order to attend the Pinning and/or Commencement Ceremonies. The number of tickets graduates will receive to each event will be announced on this site in the coming weeks.
Graduates are not required to have an admission ticket.
Children 3 and under are not required to have a ticket; however, they are required to sit on a ticketed adult's lap for the entire ceremony. This is due to fire code regulations.
NOTES:
Commencement Ceremony tickets will NOT allow entry into the Pinning Ceremonies and vice versa. If your family/friends wish to attend both events, they will need tickets to both.
Each graduate will receive entry tickets for the Pinning AND Commencement Ceremony. These are two separate events that require an entry ticket. Tickets for each event can be given to different family and friends so twice as many can be a part of your graduation events. An official entry ticket is required for both of the ceremonies. No exceptions.
Accessible Seating
Accessible seating reservations are available for all ceremonies. If you have family members or friends who need accessible seating for the Pinning and/or Commencement ceremonies, please email Patty Lusk at plusk@sentara.edu. In your email, include the name(s) of the individual(s) requiring accessible seating and the name of their companion, if applicable, along with which ceremony(ies) they will be attending. Additionally, please identify any assistive equipment (e.g. wheelchair, oxygen tank) being used so the necessary space can be provided. If a wheelchair is needed, please state that in your request as well.
NOTE: Each individual will still need an entry ticket.
Accessible seating requests are due to Patty Lusk by 5pm, May 6th.
Arrival times for reserved seating will be indicated in the email confirmation from Patty Lusk along with detailed instructions on where to enter the conference center.
Personal Belongings
There are no secure areas for personal belongings/valuables in the center. Please leave these items at home or locked out of sight in your vehicle.
NO BALLOONS, SIGNS, STROLLERS, OR CAR SEATS PERMITTED
Due to visual obstruction, balloons and signs are NOT permitted inside the center. Please inform family and friends to either keep balloons and signs in their cars or at home as they will not be allowed to enter with them. Additionally, because of fire code regulations, strollers and car seats are not permitted in the center.
