Narrative written by: Serynna and Kalley also featuring James and Xavier
It was Monday, and at school we had to talk about what students do after school. It was around 9:00 in the morning when the teacher said, “Today we are going to be talking about students and what their lives are like after school. The first person we will be talking about is Kalley.”
He then said, “But here is a twist. Each person speaking will have to talk about their after-school life in third person.”
Kalley grabbed her paper, went to the front of the class, and told us what she does after school. She started reading from her paper.
“After school Monday through Thursday, Kalley goes to volleyball practice and plays volleyball with her friends. She practices for almost an hour. After she gets home from volleyball, she usually eats some food and watches videos on her phone. On Fridays, she gets home and mostly sleeps after a long day of school.”
Everyone clapped when she finished reading, and then she sat down. The teacher put his hand into a box and drew another name.
“Serynna,” he said.
Serynna stood up with her paper while James went and sat down. She started talking and said, “What Serynna does after school is watch TV for an hour or two. She watches shows like Jujutsu Kaisen and Kuroko’s Basketball. After a while of watching TV, she likes to play games and talk to her friends. She talks to her friends about a lot of things until bedtime and really enjoys speaking to them. The games that she likes to play are Fortnite and Roblox, and she usually plays these games on her phone.”
She opened her mouth to speak but stopped, confused because the person she was going to call on wasn’t there. She went to the teacher and whispered, “Where is Xavier? I was going to call on him, but he isn’t here.”
The class heard her, and everyone started looking around, confused about where Xavier was.
“Next is… James. James, please stand up and tell us about your after-school life in third person,” the teacher said.
James stood up and went to the front of the class. Instead of reading from a paper, he just said what was on his mind.
“After hours at school, James usually plays on his Xbox for around 30 minutes. He plays Call of Duty and basketball games like 2K and others. Some days, James sleeps if he doesn’t feel like playing a game,” James said.
Then, he went to the teacher and asked if he could pick the next person. The teacher said yes, and James picked.....
Then, at the perfect time, Xavier ran in. Out of breath, he said, “Sorry I’m late! My bus just got here.”
Xavier threw his books down and tried to clean up. Some students noticed that his paper with his third-person writing was on top of his books, so they said, “Don’t worry about the mess. Just read your paper so we can get this over with!”
After that, he said okay, went to the front of the room, and started reading.
“Xavier doesn’t do much after school, but he does like to play games for a bit, watch TikTok videos on his phone, and watch movies on his TV. He watches movies like Hoppers and Scream with his family. When he gets home, he also likes to play football and basketball outside with his brothers for an hour.”
He wiped the sweat off his forehead and sat down. The teacher gave everyone an A, and the class assignment was complete.
