The Executive Branch is composed of statewide elected officers, Governor’s Secretaries, and state agencies. Each state agency in the Executive Department is assigned to and reports through a Secretary.

Article V outlines the qualifications and powers of the Governor of Virginia. The Constitution of Virginia also sets forth the election process for all statewide elected officials, legislators, members of local governing bodies and local constitutional officers in Article II.
