Participants will create dynamic resources that empower and motivate students on their language journey. They will experience an overview of proficiency levels before diving into hands-on activities to develop student-friendly proficiency goals, anchor charts that support language development, and interactive lesson plans that promote purposeful communication.

In this interactive session, participants will explore proficiency and modes of communication, gaining practical insights that will elevate their teaching! Participants will engage in dynamic exercises that unpack ACTFL guidelines, dive into proficiency levels, and discover student-friendly examples that can be directly implemented in the classroom.

Designed specifically for ASL teachers by ASL teachers, the 7 Steps are now available for teachers of American Sign Language! The training is conducted entirely in ASL, and the original steps have been adapted for the unique and specific needs of ASL classrooms. Paricipants will partake in an immersion simulation to truly experience the 7 Steps as a learner. They will leave with practical strategies ready to implement with their students the next day!

The 7 Steps to a Language-Rich, Interactive World Language Classroom are research-based strategies designed to increase comprehensible input and provide low-stress opportunities for language output and interaction. These practical techniques provide an essential foundation that ensures students are motivated and engaged, while offering access points to any target language in a way that is easy to implement and comprehensively scaffolded. This training was created for both novice and seasoned world language teachers to transform the world language classroom into an interactive environment in which students are engaging in the target language from day one!

In this work session, teacher leaders and administrators are guided through a variety of exercises and discussions that will lead to a deeper understanding of state standards, AP themes, and ACTFL proficiency guidelines. Together, they will develop their priorities for a world language curriculum based on these important components, write a well-balanced and thorough curriculum that supports any language, and identify resources that complement the plan.
