I graduated from Slippery Rock University with my degree in Elementary Education and then went on to obtain my Masters in Early Childhood through California University of Pennsylvania. Previously, I served as Director for a child care center in the area. 2013-2014 marked my first year teaching at our school. I've been blessed to teach 2nd grade and Preschool over the years and am looking forward to another great school year!
I believe that children learn best through a balance of teacher- and student-led discovery learning. Therefore, I provide opportunities daily for children to explore independently and problem solve with their peers while also gathering whole and small groups for skill building and practice. I like to make things fun and exciting for the students while keeping a general structure and routine so that expectations are always clear. This allows for a fresh start to each day and each learning adventure. I am a hands on learner myself and aim to provide my students with opportunities to engage through all different styles to achieve their maximum potential. I'm excited to continue using and incorporating new technologies in and out of the classroom to enhance our learning.
In my free time, I love to travel (and plan travel for others!), read on my Kindle, do home improvement/craft projects, bake, and spend time with my husband and two sons. I am obsessed with all things Disney and I love the color purple.
