All students will visit the library once a week for standardized literacy lessons, sustained silent reading (SSR), story-time, and book check out. Our library provides students with a rich variety of resources in both print and online formats that support our K-5 School Library Standards.
Our students have access to close to 10,000 print items. The librarian works hard to keep our library up to date and relevant.
In a typical school year:
Students in kindergarten check out one book a week but must keep them in their classroom.
Students in 1st grade can check out one book.
Students in 2nd grade can check out two books.
Students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade can check out three books. Extra books are allowed when a classroom teacher requires them for a project.
Books may be checked out for up to 2 weeks with an additional 2 week renewal period. Books in high demand will be renewed at the discretion of the librarian.
Students can use the Sora Overdrive app in their Google Drive to access eBooks. They also have access to Encyclopedia Brittanica for research purposes through the library catalog .
Students who return books that have been damaged beyond repair or lost while in their possession will be charged the cost of replacement. Checks may be made payable to "Town of Seekonk".
Parents/guardians may also choose to replace it by purchasing a new copy of the book.
Donations to the library collection are not currently being accepted unless approved by the School Committee.
