MMUN is a simulation of the UN General Assembly that invites middle school students from around the world to debate current issues. Rather than express their own beliefs, students must view these issues from the perspective of an assigned country, which creates a unique experience of empathy and global mindedness.
At Sedona Charter School, we believe that we can change the world with our blend of imagination and logic, so Montessori Model United Nations is our outlet. There, we will speak about the problems in our world and come up with innovative solutions to fix them. It is a unique opportunity that can help build bridges for the future. We'll be working with people from the UN, who will help guide us as we make our resolutions. We all want to find our voices and make a positive impact on the world; this is our chance to do so.
We aspire to create a world in which:
People use empathy, respect, and a commitment to excellence as they work together to overcome challenges, achieve social justice, and ensure a sustainable future.
Each person finds and fulfills his or her intrinsic purpose.
People recognize the value in every human being including themselves, and every culture including their own.
You are supporting a life-changing opportunity for middle school students at the Sedona Charter School to:
Discover the power of their voice in an interactive, globally impactful public setting
Deeply learn about the needs of the City-State they are representing, therefore creating empathy, diplomatic skill and geographical / sociopolitical expertise.
How would your life have been impacted had you had this opportunity? Imagine the difference it will make for this special group of Sedona Charter School kids in their lives in years to come.
