Hello All!
My name is Jonathan Dumont, and I'll be the 8th grade science teacher at SeDoMoCha for the 2022-2023 academic year.
Prior to joining the staff at SeDo, I taught Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Microbiology laboratories at Husson University from 2017-2022, and middle school/high school math/science at Greenville Consolidated School from 2015-2017.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a Master's of Science in Teaching degree, both from the University of Maine.
My wife and I live in Dover-Foxcroft with our son and two cats. In my spare time I enjoy hiking, kayaking, fishing, camping, and gardening.

In the first couple weeks of school, you will receive an invitation for Guardian access on my Google Classroom. By accepting this invitation, Classroom will email you summaries of your child's missing work and upcoming assignments. These summaries will also include announcements or questions I post.
While the 8th grade team has been using Google Classroom for a few years now, this platform has become more important than ever during these last few years. Having this access will allow you to keep up to date on your child's activity and learning.
If you are curious what science information/concepts we will cover this year, click the picture above. These are the units that we will cover in the physical science curriculum. I am hoping this year we will have the opportunity to have the 8th grade science fair again!
Due to the pandemic, SeDo has had students stay with their homerooms for all courses for parts of the past two school years. With CDC guidelines much different now than during the beginning of the pandemic, we are back to what can be considered a more "normal" schedule, where students are mixed in with other homerooms for their classes. Below is the current 8th grade schedule.
