WE ARE EVERYWHERE

On Display uses a human sculpture court to challenge perceptions of beauty and disability, promoting greater societal awareness and acceptance.

A commentary on the body as spectacle, audiences are invited to actively stare beyond first impressions and perceived differences. Performed in-person at dozens of locations across the globe and in a 24 hour Zoom performance that accommodates a breathtaking array of people across international time-zones. This project, which started in New York and Hobart in 2015, has expanded to over 200 venues in 87 cities across 22 countries.

SEE will continue its decade-long collaboration with Heidi Latsky Dance travelling from Tasmania to New York in 2025 to present On Display alongside Heidi Latsky Dance at the United Nations in New York City. We will also participate in workshops with the company, see performances and attend International Day for Persons with Disability events.

As part of this collaboration, SEE will work closely with Tasmanian artist Sabio Evans to design wearable art that enhances the individuality of each performer.

Heidi Latsky Dance is a New York-based, female-run organization dedicated to the creation of relevant, immersive performance art that is accessible to all. Notable works include "DISJOINTED" (2006), exploring themes of illness and loss. In 2006, a collaboration with Lisa Bufano shifted the focus towards inclusivity and diversity, giving rise to "The GIMP Project" (2006-2015), breaking traditional dance norms.

The company's ongoing installation, "ON DISPLAY," challenges societal notions of body image, emphasizing diversity and mutual vulnerability.HLD has continued to push boundaries with "D.I.S.P.L.A.Y.E.D," a project that explores our perceptions of the human form with AR technology in partnership with Google's Creative Lab.

HLD consistently creates new works while leveraging technology to bring audiences closer to diverse human experiences. The organization hosts "ON DISPLAY GLOBAL," an annual event in collaboration with the UN on International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Additionally, HLD provides educational programs and is in the process of developing a choreographer residency

heidi latsky

HEIDI LATSKY, originally from Montreal, began her dance career in 1983, most significantly as a principal dancer for the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company (1987-1993). Her style and philosophy of dance were shaped by this experience, leading her to co-found Goldhuber & Latsky (1993-2000), known for notable commissions.

In 2001, she established Heidi Latsky Dance (HLD). Her career has included significant achievements such as receiving a Creative Capital two-year award for her work "GIMP" in 2009. She has made her mark in the physically integrated dance field, touring internationally and giving impactful keynote speeches.

Latsky is a strong advocate for disability rights and is involved in various organizations and mentoring programs. She has also served as an adjudicator and presenter in the dance community.

Heidi Latsky holds a BA in Psychology with Honors. Her most recent awards include the Martha Hill Dance Fund Mid Career Artist Award; the Moving Our World Award for Social Justice Advocacy from The IDEAL School of Manhattan; and being honored by Dance Parade as Grand Marshal.

sabio

SABRINA EVANS aka SABIO, is an established freelance costume designer and maker, seamstress, and emerging contemporary artist based in Hobart, Tasmania. Her practice encompasses the design and construction of fashion garments, costumes, and soft furnishings.

Sabio's body of work covers a deep understanding of materiality with the creation of sculptural, costume and large-scale three dimensional work.

Her emerging art practice is a mixture of textiles, soft furnishings, experimental performance, video, site-specific sculptural installations and sculptural costumes, which are shaped by ritualistic and esoteric processes and informed by surrealist traditions and sensibilities and Tasmanian folklore especially as it pertains to its gothic elements.

Sabio has had successful commissions for a Marina Abramovic exhibition, features films and also ten Dark Mofo festivals. Sabio co-produced The Emergency Dollhouse immersive experience with 63 shows in 2023. Her work includes shows in the Sydney Opera House and MONA.
