Grades

Check your grades once or twice a week!

It is important to check your grades on Aeries regularly.  There, you will see all of the individual assignment grades that make up your grade in the class.

Due Dates and Late Work

Any assignments not finished during class are due the following day.  Students will keep track of the due dates for longer term assignments in their planners.

Work turned in late will be graded, but will receive a maximum grade of 80%.  In certain extreme circumstances, (illness, family emergency, etc.) extensions may be given and full credit may still be received.  It is up to the students to speak with me as soon as possible so we can come up with a plan together.

Students will receive three late passes per trimester that may be used in English and/or History.  They may staple this pass to a late assignment and turn it in for full credit.  Lost late passes will not be replaced.

In 6th grade, you will get a letter grade for each of the six classes you are in.

What does my grade mean?

A (90-100%)

I know the content extremely well, and put great effort into my assignments.  My work is neat, complete, and carefully edited.

B (80-89%)

I understand most of the content very well, and have put good effort into my assignments.  My work is mostly neat and complete.

C (70-79%)

I understand some, but I should ask questions about the parts I don't yet understand.  My work may be incomplete, or I may have missing assignments that are bringing my grade down.  Once I turn them in, my grade will go up!

D (60-69%) and  F (0-59%)

I do not understand the content being taught yet.  I will ask Mrs. Castaneda for help.  The work I am turning in may be incomplete, and I likely have missing assignments that are bringing my grade down.  Once I turn them in, my grade will go up!
