Honey Bees

Please do what you can to help the honey bees. They are an important part of our food chain. One thing you can do is plant purple flowers around your house to attract them. Some of their favorites are borage, lavender, rosemary, sage, oregano and chive flowers.

Lemons! Lemons! Lemons!

Now is the time to harvest all of those lemons that are still hanging onto your lemon tree. In order to preserve the lemon juice:

juice the lemons (remember rolling them around on a hard surface before squeezing them makes it easier to get out all that fresh lemon juice)
fill ice cube trays with the lemon juice
freeze
place the frozen lemon cubes into a ziplock bag
enjoy lemon juice all year round!

Edible flowers like calendula, borage and shungiku are easy to grow, attract bees and brighten up your salad mix.

Pickling Recipe

In May, I planted pickling cucumbers at Park Side .

Now we have an abundance of cucumbers and beans.

I made my first batch of pickles this season!
