80% of students walk to Penn with the average commute time from 10-20 minutes.
The average rent of surveyed students is around $1000. Most students live in apartments, though row homes in Graduate Hospital and family-sized homes in West Philadelphia are also popular housing types.
Overall, 39% of students live alone, 42% have 1 roommate, and 16% have 2 roommates.
About 1/4 of students own at least 1 pet.
Most students (67%) do not own a car. The other 33% pay for monthly garages ($100/mo or more) (7%), pay to park on the street ($35/year PA state registration) (15%), or have a parking spot designated with their accommodation (11%).
62% of students have in-unit laundry, 36% have in-building laundry.
The survey respondents reported having the following amenities: Gym (48%), Bike storage (40%), Mail room (54%), Security cameras (47.5%), Central AC/heat (77%), Window AC units (29.5%), access to a grill (16%), Outdoor space that is their own (49%), Balcony/roof (39%).
National chains including Giant, Aldi, Whole Foods, Trader Joes, etc, were the most popular grocery shopping location at 91.8%. Local shops followed with 44% popularity, online delivery at 29.5%, and the Farmer's Market at 16%.
People either ship packages directly to their homes (89%) or to Amazon Lockers (37.5%).
Most people found their housing through Zillow (61%) or friends/family (26%).
