• 88% of students walk to Penn with the average commute time from 15-25 minutes. 

• The average rent of surveyed students is around $1350 and the median rent is $1250. Most students live in apartments, though row homes in Graduate Hospital and family-sized homes in West Philadelphia are also popular housing types.

• Overall, 44% of students live alone, 46% have 1 roommate, and 10% have 2 roommates. Students living alone have a higher average rent of around $1740 while students with roommates have an average rent of around $1060. 

• About 20% of students own at least 1 pet.

• Most students (71%) do not own a car. The other 29% pay for monthly garages ($100/mo or more) (7%), pay to park on the street ($35/year PA state registration, just increased to $75/year) (15%), or have a parking spot designated with their accommodation (7%).

• 78% of students have in-unit laundry, 20% have in-building laundry.

• The survey respondents reported having the following amenities: Gym (34%), Bike storage (29%), Mail room (42%), Security cameras (39%), Central AC/heat (71%), Window AC units (34%), access to a grill (20%), Outdoor space that is their own (37%), Balcony/roof (39%).

• National chains including Giant, Aldi, Whole Foods, Trader Joes, etc, were the most popular grocery shopping location at 88%. Local shops followed with 54% popularity, online delivery at 29%, and the Farmer's Market at 12%.

• People either ship packages directly to their homes (83%) or to Amazon Lockers (32%).

• Most people found their housing through Zillow (59%) or friends/family (29%). Other notable resources were the Penn Sponsored Housing Page (15%) and Facebook (7%).
