This advanced medical training will expose Sea Cadets to the field of Aerospace Medicine and the exciting training curriculum that is provided to Navy Hospital Corpsman on Active Duty. AVMT training will combine training elements from the Navy’s Aerospace Medical Technician (AVT) course, the Flight Medic Course (FMC), and elements of Naval aviation survival training. Course may include curriculum from International Trauma Life Support, resulting in ITLS Basic certification.
This is an academically and physically demanding course! Cadets will receive over 40 hours of instruction from Active-Duty instructors that mirrors the Navy’s Aerospace Medical Technician and Flight Medic Courses. Cadets will also participate in aviation water survival training. This training expands on basic medical first aid knowledge and trains cadets on aeromedical aspects of the flight environment. Cadets will learn skills used by Search and Rescue (SAR) Corpsmen on CASEVAC/MEDEVAC missions including patient assessment and treatment. Cadets will be assessed through didactic assessments, practical demonstrations, and scenario-based evaluations.
