We began by observing autorickshaws in their natural setting and understanding their significance. They are driven by individuals who rely on them for their livelihoods. Additionally, they often serve as mobile shelters for animals seeking refuge from harsh weather conditions.
The central idea behind all interventions is to provide auto rickshaw drivers with a dedicated space where they can rest, eat while simultaneously creating areas for animals to seek shelter and safety.
These drawings show the flow of auto-rickshaws during different times of the day and how it affects the people and the surrounding areas.
The intervention is an area for auto drivers equipped with facilities for resting and eating. It includes a separate shelter for animals. The design features a slightly sloping roof with a hollow branch-like structure to efficiently drain water. The roof itself serves as both seating and flooring.
The two-level intervention for auto drivers features an open design to ensure excellent ventilation. It offers seating on both levels, and a deck overlooking the river. It is designed to have a sloping roof that helps to efficiently drain water away from the structure during rainfall.
The intervention is designed as a functional space for auto drivers, offering comfortable seating for rest, sleep, and meals. It features small niches to accommodate animals. Additionally, a communal space is accessible to both drivers and other people. Stairs connect the intervention to a walkway over water, enhancing the natural ambiance and providing a pleasant view creating an inviting environment.
The intervention features seating areas with storage for drivers and designated zones for animals, including ramps to facilitate their movement. This design is partially constructed on water, creating a floating illusion and offering views of the river. With its open layout, the intervention allows for natural ventilation from all sides.
The section lines are shown in the roof plan.
3 dimensional drawing of the structure.
Autorickshaw drivers often work in demanding conditions, driving for extended periods. The intervention offers a designated eating and resting space with comfortable seats for the drivers.
In parallel, it also incorporates spaces that cater to the needs of animals. A viewing area is integrated into the design. The intervention is designed to have a sloping roof design essential for effective water drainage, especially during rainy weather.
