What does one mean by the term environment?
The particular natural surrounding or habitat in which an organism survives, grows,s and reproduces is known as the environment. It consists of both abiotic and biotic components and their interrelationship. It can also be defined as a sum total of all the living and non-living elements and their effects that influence human life.
What is a flow?
A flow is something which connects and displays mutual dependence among all the different kinds of things that exist and live within an environment. A flow when changed can have a sudden effect on the things that reside in the nearby environment.
Starting Process:-
We chose to go with the flow of water and a design a structure which would be accessible to people so they could experience the flow of water on different terrains and during the high and low tides.
ISO/3D drawing of the design
This plan is made on 1:50 scale, it starts at the existing sluice gate on the bund wall & is made right over the natural existing stream of water [river], thus not totally disturbing the water's natural flow towards the creek but altering the flow instead.
The 4 sections above are detailed and display a basic idea of what it is and the materials as well. The structure is made by ramping soil in ground along with small stones and then covered with PCC before placing finished cut basalt plates over it. The dark shaded part on the left hand side of the sections are the deck we made to enable people to go further into the mangroves which are usually hard to explore due to muddy/marshy ground, enabling them to sit, gather and experience the mangroves and it's vegetation. It's made of oak and uses steel pipes as pile foundation.
We kept openings in between to let the mangrove tree grow without disturbing or having to cut them down.
We used air-dry clay to make this model, we used metal net/mesh to act as foundation and to give it the strength to hold the shape and form, having the mesh wrapped with newsprint paper and applying a slurry of glue and water [1:2] then letting and dry out before applying the layer of clay. The deck on the other side was made entirely out of square and circular skewer sticks glued together.
