SYSTEM-Land Modulation (earth berming)
this is the pre primary & primary school which we have to redesign with its water, electricity and waste within itself and making it a system by which it will run on its own with minimal or no additional resource consumption.
A land modulation system with a windcatcher combines terrain shaping and natural ventilation to optimize cooling and comfort. The land is contoured to direct wind toward strategically placed windcatchers, which capture and circulate fresh air while exhausting hot, stale air. This integration enhances passive cooling by using natural elements like wind, topography, vegetation, and water features to create a sustainable, energy-efficient system that adapts to the environment while reducing reliance on mechanical systems.
My initial idea was to use earth berming, with the excavated soil placed on the roof to create a green roof. However, I realized that going fully underground increases humidity. To address this, I am now focusing on designing a roof that also functions as a windcatcher which also act as sunlight , helping to control humidity within the structure and light within the structure
