The South Dakota Volunteer Naturalists Program is a volunteer program for adults who are interested in learning about nature, developing the naturalist's mindset, and sharing that interest with others through education outreach, stewardship, and service.

Pay the fee (upon acceptance).
Pass the background check (completed during training).
Complete the training program with at least 40 hours of combined classroom and field instruction.

The training fee is $80. This covers the costs of name badge, pin, and program administration.

Our 12-week program will be held virtually via Zoom on Tuesday evenings, starting the first Tuesday of March. Throughout the year there will be in-person field trips across the state.
