SEL Webinars hosted by SDVS Counseling Department

On December 12, 2023 we hosted a "Winter Break and Managing Mental Health" Student Panel. Our presenters amplified student voices and our presenter also included, Ms. Bracamonte, MSW our SDVS School Mental Health Professional. We held conversations on how to manage mental and emotional well-being  during winter break. For many, winter break can increase symptoms of stress, depression and anxiety. We wanted our students and family to know they are not alone! and there is help!

On May 24, 2023 we hosted a "Managing Mental Health During Senior Year" Student Panel. Our student presenters amplified student voices and our presenter also included Ms. Bracamonte, MSW our SDVS School Mental Health Professional. We held conversations on how to manage mental and emotional well-being  during senior year and post graduation, to include how to access school based mental health services and post graduation services.

Are you a Senior who is worried about life after high school? Please check out our "Life After High School and Managing Stress Panel". This Panel was student led in April of 2022 and highlights the voices of former SDVS Students.

In the fall of 2021 we offered a Student panel on Mental Health. Student's shared their stories and voices about their mental health journey. Check out our video below to learn more about mental health and find ways to get support from tips/strategies from SDVS Students.

Our SDVS Counseling Department offered a webinar on Coping and Academic Strategies to Manage Anxiety on Wednesday, 4/14/21. Our speakers were Carolina Bracamonte, one of our School Counselors who is also an Associate Clinical Social Worker, one of our Social Studies teachers, Jenny Weller and a Licensed Mental Health Provider, Enzo Arya. 

This presentation focuses on ways to help manage anxiety through coping skills as well as provide tricks and tips on how to tackle classes to make the most efficient use of our students' time.

Journaling

Journaling is a "mindfulness" technique as it helps calm your mind and connect you to the present moment. Writing down your thoughts and feelings to understand them more clearly can help you to heal if you struggle with stress, depression, anxiety.
