Here's what to do:
I feel honored that you would like for me to write you a letter of recommendation (LoR), thank you for thinking of me. As I am sure you can imagine, I receive a lot of requests. In fact, in recent years I have been receiving an amount that has impacted my professional fulfillment in research and lesson planning/revising. The picture below is of my binder, which has almost exceeded the size of our Calculus Textbook (note that the binder is only for FERPAs and Info Sheets and exceeded 70 students in which the vast majority needed several different recommendations). This extreme at times workload has come at a cost to the quality of a truly personal and reflective recommendation, which I want to do for you. My goal is to set a boundary on the quantity in order to provide the highest quality possible of recommendations I agree to do. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
Ok, now to the procedure:
Please ask for a LoR in person, and be prepared for me to say that I need to think about it, or that I might say no.
Then fill out the attached form and give it to me at the same time as your FERPA (at least 2 weeks before due date).
Let me know where or what you were accepted to and how the program was as I have heard some programs are better than others.
Show gratitude.
