Welcome to the La Costa Canyon High School Multilingual Learner Program!
The goal of the LCC Multilingual Learner Program is to support Newcomer students and students learning the English language in meeting graduation and college entrance requirements. Students are enrolled in College Prep content area courses with primary language support. They receive both Designated ELD (English Language Development) and Integrated ELD (English Language Development and Structured English Immersion) in order to access grade level curriculum. English Language Proficiency is assessed yearly in the spring with ELPAC until students are reclassified as Fluent English Proficient.
Students in our Multilingual Learner (ML) Program are supported by an ML Lead Teacher, Anastasia Kokkinis, who works with both students and teachers to ensure that each student has access to the standard, grade level curriculum and is able to achieve and meet their individual goals.
Multilingual Learner Program Goals:
To develop English language proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking
To provide access to grade level content area instruction as well as the opportunity to be four-year college eligible
To foster an appreciation for the United States culture while preserving a unique cultural identity
