I've been teaching at CCA since it's 2nd year and have served as department chair for several years.   My favorite part of teaching is helping students not only succeed in science but also develop life long skills for the classroom and beyond.

I grew up here in San Diego and went to Mt. Carmel High School, just down the 56. I graduated from UCSB with a major in Aquatic Biology and minor in Geology. I hold credentials in biology, chemistry and physics and have taught all these courses. I also have my Masters in Education with a focus on math, science and technology along with an administration credential.

I bring a wide variety of field experience and enjoying helping students make the connection outside the classroom.  I worked as a research SCUBA diver in Santa Barbara, French Polynesia and San Diego.  I've also worked in a variety of biotech settings, San Diego is a mecca of biotech!  Prior to having kids I use to spend my summers in industry (either underwater or under the microscope).

I have kids 13 and 16 who love water polo, hiking, camping and skiing.  As a family we can often be found outside and enjoying camping in our beautiful National Parks in the summer.

The best way to reach me is email: andrea.lawless@sduhsd.net

I do my best to follow-up quickly on email, it's important that everyone is on the same page and same team to support students.  Phone calls are answered and returned outside of class time.
