WELCOME TO ENGLISH 12 ~BRITISH LITERATURE!

Get ready for a challenging but awesome year. I am so excited to get to know you and to help you grow as a reader, writer, editor and speaker, as well as to prepare you for college and/or your life beyond education.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The English 12 curriculum presents an overview of British and European Literature including Old English, Medieval, Restoration/ Enlightenment, Victorian, Romantic, and Contemporary passages, poems, stories, films, plays, and novels. The central theme, “Freedom and Responsibility,” provides an excellent opportunity for students to conduct a survey of classic and thought-provoking literature. Through these works, students will strive to understand time periods within European and American history and to appreciate the style, diction, and art of the writers that transpired within each of the literary classics we read. During the spring semester, seniors will have the opportunity to focus on a senior project where students identify their interests and pursue career goals through research, writing, website creativity, and senior speeches. Senior students will leave this class prepared for college and business reading, writing, language, listening and speaking challenges.
